I have so many shows I should be catching up on but I thought bugger it, let's watch new stuff! My buddy
deej pointed me in the direction of a new show called Continuum last evening and here are some of my thoughts on it.
Also there will be spoilers, beware.
We start off in future!Canada and I have to say it's pretty nice looking and ooh look, Tony Amendola is here and he's a baddie! Looove! Then we meet our main girl Keira who has come to arrest him. She's a protector who protects...things. Rachel Nichols is so cute, I love her face <3 then some things happen, they go to the execution of Tony and his guys and then they disappear into the past, oh noes!
At the prison I knew something was going to happen for two reasons 1. They changed where Keira was supposed to be during the execution and 2. Her husband sat down next to the smoking man from X Files. You know that isn't good news!
So she ends up in present day 2012 and on the search for Tony Amendola and his men. I am not sure what happened to him, he wasn't with them when they came out the other side...?
Keira actually manages to get in contact with the creator of all her high tech technology (Alec) and he helps her find her place there. I like him, he's cute :D
Also, there is a cop and I like him too because I've seen him before in Charmed. He and Keira team up to find the terrorist guys. I have got to tell you these guys are pretty darn brutal. While Keira and Carlo were downtown handling guys, the others stormed into the police station and shot up the place, wow :O
Now Keira, out of time must defeat these mofos before something horrible happens.
Some more random thoughts:
+ I really did not like Keira's son. She did not look old enough to have a son that age plus for some reason that kid's face really annoyed me.
+ So yeah I mentioned it before but what did happen to Tony Amendola? Did he die?
+ What was Alec's step-dad and his buddies up to? It seemed nefarious.
+ I like that Alec gave Keira the two theories of quantum time travel, the one where you going back and it can mess everything up (The Butterfly Effect) and the other paradoxial one where he claimed she was just going through the motions because this was something that was always slated to happen.
+ More on the point about because it turns out, it was the latter! We see at the end of the episode that the smoking man is Older!Alec which explains why he/they put her in the cell at the time of the execution. He knew she was going to disappear back into time because he had lived through it before.
+ Future!Canada looks fiiiine.
+ I was kind of shocked when the baddies took out the police station man, not cool D:
In short, I like this show. I like the characters and I am interested in seeing where it will end up. I will keep watching :D
