Pissed

Sorry for this once in a blue moon entry to be in a pissed off mood, but i needed to vent.
I'm sure everyone knows what the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship is. They give money for your tuition in exchange for good grades yada yada yada, everyone knows.
There are so many statistics stating how many people lose the scholarship after one year. I think it's like 75% or something like that. And it's so easy to keep, a 2.75 for crying out loud! Anyway, not to toot my own horn, but i did keep the scholarship all 4 years and i used the extra money to take summer classes, do internships (costs $ for college credit), and add a MGMT minor. All of these extra things and i still managed to finish in 4 years. Well here we are, one semester to go = one more semester to pay for.

All of a sudden i get this email that says Tennessee law prohibits giving the scholarship to a student who is entering a semester with more than 120 hours. I will have 127 when i start next spring. Are you F'n kidding me?!? One semester to go and they want to take $2,000 from me? How the hell is that rewarding good students? They punish the good ones who put in the extra effort of a minor or an internship by yanking the scholarship?!? OMG! I'm so mad, i'm thinking about copying this semi-profane filled blog and sending it to the lottery people. This is sending a message to our kids, "don't overachieve. we won't pay for it." My dad tells me that we have enough money to cover it, but still, how wrong is it to withhold funding for the good students and give it to the freshman which statistics have shown will lose it after the first year? I know i probably sound self-centered, but it just made me so mad. "Congratulations on keeping your scholarship for 4 years, by the way, we're not paying it though."
I'll be spending Christmas break applying for a multitude of scholarships to cover this one.

Upon re-reading this i sound really selfish, again i apologize, but i needed to vent.
