So...found out at 9am this morning (saturday) that one of my brothers (aaron) just finished his 3rd week of med school, went to a house party, dove off the house into the pool and crushed his c5 vertebrae
Got out of surgery 4-6 hrs later, no brain damage, stabilized his spine, but he's a quadriplegic now. He can breathe on his own and can shrug his shoulders. There's still significant swelling around the injury so he could gain slightly more movement, but from here it does not look good.
Could this year get any worse? Bagheera dies, Godiva dies, Sunny dies, Michael commits suicide, Aaron's sister's best friend's mom dies of cancer, and now Aaron has lost all function in his limbs.
