Europe Trip - München (Munich) & Füssen (I don't know what's the English equivalent)

Mar 20, 2007 18:15

So this is Munich, or München in German. Right now, we are in the midst of the city centre called Marienplatz. The winds were really strong and cold, but I like how my hair turned out in this picture..

It's quite hard to show how Munich looks like because everything is so large and close to each other, so we went to this place called Altes Peter (Old Peter Tower), where we climbed close to 600 steps to get a better view. We made a funny video here, but I don't know how to show it.

Everyone, this is Munich. You can see the Bavarian Alps from here, but if the weather was better, the image of the snow-capped mountains would be a lot clearer and closer-looking to the city. Although on cloudy days, you don't get to see anything, so we're considered quite lucky...

That's the Marienplatz where we were earlier in the first picture. The big white house is called the Rathaus (The Mayor's Office)

Other angles of Munich.. We did some shopping here where I bought myself a pair of Camper winter shoes cause the ones I was wearing got wet and I fell once with them. After this, we headed down further south of Germany to the Bavarian Alps in Füssen (I don't know what's the English equivalent of this place) to see the Royal Bavarian Castles.

This is Füssen. As we leave the train station, this is the first view that greets you. Nice eh?

The chrome yellow building on the right is where we bunked for the night, called Hotel Sonne (Hotel of the Sun). Very nice and cheap.

This is the first of the royal castles called Höhenschwangau (Castle of the High Swans). The swan was the emblem of the Bavarian state's royal blood. Nothing much to shout about here, but think you'll find the second castle more familiar...
And then it started to snow a little...

Edges of the lake started to get frozen...

That's the second castle we're going to called Neuschwanstein... Walt Disney used this to model their Disneyland.. Can you see it?

Can you see it now?

So we paid 5 Euros to get onto the horse carriage and plodded our way up there.. The horse were really sturdy and because it was really cold, you could see cool mist coming out from their nostrils as they breathed.. Really like Dungeons and Dragons type ;p

As we moved higher, we got a better view of the yellow castle earlier and the frozen lake.. It's getting really cold now..

Tada... and this is Neuschwanstein...

It's a loooong wayyy downnn the ravine..

That's it my friends, I love you all, bye byeee *plummets to his death*

Next up - Austria where we get to see Vienna!
