wir haben ein Kätzchenfestival

I finally got my card reader out of the box it's been hiding in, so here it is:

That's right--a feed store in the middle of suburbia with a marquee having a kitten fest. Awesome.

Speaking of kittens, here's the lady friend's new kittens (unfortunately not acquired at said kitten fest) playing a wonderful game called which direction is up:

They have actual names, but the gray one, I have decided that he is "knucklehead," and the spotted one, she is "kitten." My names are better.

Incidentally, I'm almost moved in to the Baton Rouge place for my second exile (which is why I found the card reader, which is why I have this abnormally picture laden post).

More catching up...

I finally found a self-serve junkyard in the New Orleans area (I went looking fot it once before, but I missed it because, get this, you have to cross a private bridge over a drainage canal to get to it), resulting in this little bit of awesomeness:

Further proof that I am not allowed to have nice things. Hopefully the brown will be temporary because it looks ridiculous. Sadly, Pull-a-part did not have a gray armrest. At same junkyard, I also found the old style steering column for the Cherokee, so I can eliminate Emily's airbag and add tilt wheel in the process. The Chrysler column just ruins the flow of the interior. Plus, the horn buttons suck. The GM column is a decided improvement. Once I figure out the wiring and test all the electrical, it's going in.

In further car news, check out my awesome tie down solution for the roof rack:

2x four feet of 1/2" galvanized pipe, 4 end caps, and four u-bolts. I think I'm going to paint it though, since the threads rust. It's perfect for the hooks on the ends of tie down straps and bungees.

Currently painting the parent's house

White is a lousy color for woodwork.
