Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Yesterday I finally saw HP:OotP, and in conclusion I can't say I'm much more than disappointed while feeling the whole movie lacked the spark of it's predecessors.

The movie simply began weird. I expected Harry to be angry because of no contact from Ron and Hermione, instead we just begin with Dudley being himself and OH WAIT, DEMENTORS! Way too rushed, could at least have shown Harry missing his two friends for a few seconds?

From that point on, the movie went on, as I would call it, 'normally'. Things cut out, points ignored, details not mentioned and inconsistency in large amounts. Sure, this was the case with the previous movies, but they kind of made up for it with some actual fun parts, stuff you enjoyed watching and expected from the Harry Potter movies. But, I would say that this wasn't the case for OotP.

Enter the OotP, not a single person introduced of the OotP crew, I wanted a lot more Tonks-action (I really love Tonks) and more of mad-eye and Lupin. Kingsley was the only one you actual got to see some of, since he kind of had a significant part. "But Dumbledore sure does have style," I laughed so much at that scene with the phoenix. <3

Luna was there, Luna was never properly introduced, nothing mentioned of who she was and what the significance of her character was, other than that she had long hair, was weird, talked about nargles(sp?), could see the same dead things as Harry and was bullied at school. I really liked the Luna character in the books, and just seeing her being placed in there randomly with no introduction to what she was really ruined that part of the movie for me. I'm sure anyone who hadn't read the books had no idea who she was even after the movie ended.

Hagrid. Quidditch. Where was it? Where was the fun? Of course we had some golden moments with Ron and Hermione as always, the Weasley twins are as awesome as ever, but yet, it was too much bullshit and frustration around Umbridge and the Ministry meddling that it just overshadowed the rest of the movie, making it just an, lacking a better word, emo movie about Harry being manipulated by Voldemort so that you could get to see some hardcore grown-up wizard action. I had cheese taste in my mouth when the Death Eaters showed up in dark, shadowy dust clouds. I was chewing cheese when the OotP crew showed up in WHITE, PURE clouds of utter goodness.

I had 'Smooth Criminal' playing in my head when Voldemort was fighting Dumbledore. He looks way too much like Michael Jackson, and I was expecting the fighting to pause, Matrix bullet-time style, with Voldemort tossing a coin into a jukebox, 'Smooth Criminal' becoming the background music with mad Death Eater dancing. Should atleast sum up how bored I was with the movie?

Overall though, it was moderate, entertaining, but really, REALLY lacking the Harry Potter spark.

harry potter, albus dumbledore, ronald weasley, review, hermione granger, cheese, order of the phoenix, michael jackson, disappointed, wall of text
