Fall season

Aug 27, 2007 08:58

Fall is here, and this means anime shows that have been going during the summer are about to release their air-slot and give up space for new shows, and this season has some goodies coming along which I am most likely going to en up watching!

Shakugan no Shana II
Following the previous series, the second installment of everyone's favorite tsundere maincharacter fantasy-actioncomedy is coming. A continuation of the events in the first TV-series has been needed, and I this is one of the main shows I am looking forward to this season.

Genshiken TV II
In case you haven't heard of it until now; YES, Genshiken is getting another TV series and it is coming this fall. Otakus burning with passion for their visual culture, Ogiue showing up and lightening the mood even more, lovestories with otakus imminent and even more comedy ready to be laughed at. Genshiken will be the winner show of this season and I just can't wait for it to begin.

Shion no Ou
If you ever saw Hikaru no Go and liked it, Shion no Ou is the new installment of HnG for you. Female protagonist who's a mute, writes her messages on a small notebook and smiles gently as she shows it off. She is madly skilled at Shougi, japanese chess, and she plays it for various reasons. Note that while HnG was a shounen-show, this is a shoujo-show. Direct opposite of HnG, Shion is written by a male (HnG has a female author), has lots of lovestory and all the general traits of a shoujo-show. I was majorly obsessed with the manga (until they stopped scanlating it -_-) and now they are making an anime out of it. <3

ef - A tale of memories
I don't know too much about this show, but I know one thing for sure: Makoto Shinkai (Hoshi no Koe, 5cm per second, Beyond the Clouds) is part of the animation and background-design team for this show. Everything touched by Makoto Shinkai is automatically awesome and thus, I am looking madly forward to an actual TV-show with Makoto Shinkai involved.

Ghost Hound
Production I.G. attemps to make a horrorshow with their insane animation-skills. Apparently extremely advanced and complex, this show is bound to be a mindfuck of sorts and I have high expectations for it.

Dragonaut - The Resonance
Gonzo. Dragons, not drawn, MECHA-3D-DRAGONS. This seasons "Gonzo-show", 50/50 chance of fail/win.

There are lots of other shows coming, but these are the ones that caught my eye. I might end up checking out other shows and I'll post about them if that ends up happening.
All in all, this season has lots of weirdness, action, fantasy, drama and mecha coming, as well as yet another major batch of visual novels being animated, CLANNAD turned into a movie by Kyoto Animation is a sure winner at least, others' probably not worthy of mention. There is a lack of comedy. Where is our comedy, Japan?
