Ever since I heard about this movie, I already want to watch it. Not only I read and like the original manga (I don't watch the anime though), but I'm also quite interested to the casts (Yamada first role on movie, and it's lead role). Now, I will write a little about this movie. (I haven't watched this yet)
This movie is simply titled Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (eng. Assassination Classroom), without any secondary title or tag on it. Usually movie's adapted from manga has tag on it, just like Detective Conan and Doraemon. It gives off a feeling that there will be only 1 film. But according to some reports, it has "to be continued" line at the end of the movie (wait, so there will be second film?).
The lead character, Nagisa Shiota, is played by Ryosuke Yamada, accompanied by a quite good casts: Shiina Kippei, Masaki Suda, Ji Young, Kanna Hashimoto, Ninomiya Kazunari etc. I got quite interested for it's Yamada first role in movie, and it's a lead role. It's quite rare for someone suddenly got lead role for his/her first try on movie, and it's a big hit movie. Yamada has acted many times in TV drama, and I think he acted quite good, especially in Kindaichi Neo, Furuhata Chugakusei and Kyo no Hi wa Sayonara. And the early review about his acting in this movie is quite good.
The movie opened at theaters around Japan in 21 March 2015. And the opening 2 days weekend number is quite good. The movie attracted 350.900 people in 2 days, grossing 410.788.100 yen. And it's estimated to gross around 3 billions yen at the end of its roadshow.
Congratulations for Ansatsu Kyoushitsu for the 1st week success. Hope it will continue the success and really reach 3 billions.
Update: "Ansatsu Kyoushitsu" already reached 2 billions yen after 15 days on the run (5 April). The film still has good 10 days before "Furious 7" and "Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno" hit Japanese market in 17 April and 18 April respectively. Let's hope this time frame will be enough for Ansatsu Kyoushitsu to reach 3 billions yen before facing a hard competition with those 2 films.
Update#2 The director said in an interview that they already have filmed a trailer for a sequel. It increases the possibility for a sequel, maybe next year?
Update#3 The movie "Ansatsu Kyoushitsu" has grossed more than 2,3 billions yen by the week ending 12 April. It was already slowing down as school's spring break has already over. Now it looks like the probability for the movie to break 3 billions yen has become smaller, but it will be near enough I guess. Still hope it will really break the 3 billions yen barrier tough.
Update#4 As of end of April, the movie has grossed 2,6 billions yen. And on 19th April, the sequel has been announced and will be released in 2016.
