1) I have a big Chloe Sullivan sized hole in my heart right now. If she doesn't return for the finale, I'll be deeply traumatised.

I don't think she was leaving for Star City when she walked out of Watchtower...she was supposed to meet Oliver later at his place. I think she was going for a walk to help prepare her for telling him the news and her decision later that night.

I thought this episode was a lot of harmless fun, mostly. Some of it was really WTF, but the WTF was kind of benign. I;m sorry you didn't like it...personally, i thought this was a good send off. We knew Chloe was struggling with her plans for what to do next, who she was, etc. That's why the Star City Register job and the hero headhunting thing made me happy...she relized she was ALL those things, and parts of everything she's done and been made her happy...so she's doing it all!

I also think it's kind of brave of her to make the decision to take this step without Oliver...it's too cliche, IMO, to give all that up to be with a man and just subsume her identiy and goals to his. She even said it: "I can't expect a hero to give all that up for me." At the end, she realized he wanted to have all that WITH her, so she got her cake and is eating it too (with a SPOON!).

Is is true love? Absolutely, to me. True love means sacrifice...of what you want vs what they need. That's what I love most about this pairing...Chloe is so unused to someone wanting to be there with her on her crazy, complex journey. Oliver wants to be in the thick of it with her...no matter what.

It was a beautiful ending...I agree. Chloe gets o live out her dreams AND she gets her hero. And...YAAAAAAY...she's not dead!!!! ;-)

She's made *every* decision ever without Oliver, cos she's just not into the relationship. This one is no different. Even back in Escape, she was like "this is just sex." She didn't call him or contact him the entire time she was gone, and then still doesn't want to call him her boyfriend till she realizes she has nothing else in life. (and was more interested in her computer than him in bed.) Sure, they are friends who care about each other, but I am just not sold on this idea that Chloe has this deep connection with Ollie and considers him her life partner, cos none of that has been on the screen or conveyed. I didn't see any sort of sacrifice; It's not like Ollie has a job or obligations in Metropolis, he could have gone with her if she wanted or asked him to come along.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I know you still ship Chlark, and that's fine. But I feel, IMO and in many, many others', that the show has done a great job of showing that Chloe's emotional distance about the relationship with Oliver has gradually and subtly melted away over time. I see a connection on-screen that is organic and deep.

Chloe has historically made big decisions without consulting anyone. She's normally a lone actor. I'm not sure how you can come to your conclusion that "she's just not that into him" because she was going to leave for Star City. You can love someone very, very deeply and still feel like you need to make hard decisions, like leaving. And it's important to note that she never said she was breaking up with him...just that she had to "break the news" about her job and her plan ad that she didn't expect Oliver, as a hero, to leave what he has here behind for her.

One more thing...the woman *traded herself for Oliver* to keep him safe and alive. I don't normally do those sorts of things for my fuck buddies, ya know?

Cos I didn't see it that way-- she had a plan to save Ollie, then fake her death and go underground to get stuff done, which, cos Chloe is awesome, is perfectly fine for me. I'm not saying she doesn't care about him or even love him, and I'll agree that they are more than fuck buddies at this point-- I'm saying I don't think they have shown that she feels like he is her life partner or that they are meant to be together.

Someone else pointed that out after too and it makes me feel better. It's my personal canon now that she was going to tell him everything and that they would decide to leave together.

I can't tell you how glad I am she's doing it all. Everything that has happened over the years has made her the woman she is today and I'm glad she's not losing any of it. I think I wanted something better than harmless fun Chloe's last episode though. I like the outcome but I had hopes the execution would be better.

And yes, I love that she doesn't have to give up herself to be with Oliver. That's why it works. That's why I love it.

Yay for the happy ending!

*throws confetti*

Re-stating from my post above: I think it's important to note that Chloe never said she was going to break up with Oliver. She told Clark she neeeded to break the news about her job and her decision to Oliver, and that she didn't expect him to leave what he has behind for her. She never said that she was leaving him behind definitely...it was, IMO, open to discssion, but CHloe made the assumption he wouldn't want to go with her.

Oh, whatevs...MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
