Oh, God, I hope this doesn’t blow up into a big awful thing.

I get why Chlark is still some people’s OTP. Or Chlex. At one time I shipped both of those too. My only issue is the negativity. From my (admittedly probably limited) perspective, the anti-Chlollie commentary seems to be increasing in frequency and volume as we move closer towards the end of the series, and it’s really disheartening to me how much of it is coming from Chloe/Chlark fans. It’s been clear for a very long time now that Clois will be endgame, and if someone’s entire enjoyment or satisfaction with the show is predicated on (1) Chlark, (2) Chlois and/or (3) Chloe going back to journalism then I guess I really don’t understand why they’re still watching, because I’m pretty sure none of that is going to happen.

Mostly what bugs are the people who seem determined to rain on everybody else’s parade. We get a spoiler or interview, positive or negative, and there are always those people who post--every time--that TPTB are going to screw Chloe/us over again, it’s all ( ... )

So do I.

I'll be honest that I have only seen anti-Chlollie sentiment posted by Chlarkers on locked LJ entries but then I don't read comments on articles to avoid bashing by Chloe haters. I would like Chloe fans to present a united front in the face of the negativity that Chloe faces from other parts of fandom and knowing that won't happen does make me sad. Any anti Chloe comment on an article upsets me which is why I gave up on reading them.

My motto with this show is 'expect the worse, hope for the best' :) This is how I'll see out Chloe's arc. Collateral gave me some hope that I will be happy. Lets see if that holds.

If we Chlarkers aren't allowed to post "we aren't happy about this" when spoilers are released, then the powers that be will obviously conclude that everyone wants Chlollie. It's not fair to say we have to be quiet just because it harshes someone else's squee. We have the same right as anyone else in the fandom to say what we think, don't we?

And frankly, anyone who's gotten this far without being turned off by the fandom should be able to make it three more months. This has always been a contentious fandom.

I think it's the divisions between Chloe fans that people are finding it difficult to navigate. I know that's true foe me. But if people want to burn bridges. That's fine too. I like my bridges though so I'll stay where I am ;)

I'm sorry to say that I must burn bridges with anyone who calls me stupid, crazy, or delusional. I wouldn't have much self-respect if I kept such people on my f-list. But otherwise, I'm perfectly happy to hang out with people I don't necessarily agree with:-).

I feel the same way. As I said, hating on Chlark and Chlollie is fine. It's the fan on fan wars that I have problems with. There's enough going on in RL without fandom being a pain in the butt too. More than it has to be anyway.

I should have been more specific in my comment that I meant the chlollie community specifically. Of course Chlarkers are free to express their opinion, but at these point, when AM has shot her 5 eps and may or may not be back for the finale, I doubt that a few fan posts is going to change TPTB’s game plan substantially.

And I DO know people who have stepped back and are participating in fandom less these days because of the negativity, and I miss them. Chlolliers, for the most part, just like to enjoy our ship and live in what we call our happy Chlollie bubble. But the negativity is creeping into even our own comm and it makes it less pleasant. A lot of us participate in fandom for enjoyment and not for fighting or drama, because we get enough of that at our jobs/IRL.

And since I’ve never interacted with you before, I did just want to say that I read most of your fics during the years that I was a Chlarker, and I enjoyed your writing very much.

Thank you:-).

I concur that Chlarkers probably shouldn't be posting negative stuff on a Chlollie community. I wouldn't do that. Comms are generally supposed to be a more or less safe place for people of a particular mindset to hang out without being bugged. Maybe you need better mods?

Heh. I don't think I'm expressing myself very well. There's no anti-Chlollie stuff being posted in the Chlollie community, just some repeated instances of people assuming the worst about any news that comes out, no matter how positive it seems. I understand not wanting to get revved up only to be disappointed--again--and honestly I don't think the people who do it are conscious of being persistent party-poopers (alliteration!), but--it's cumulative. It's certainly not something I would expect the mods to intervene for--you can't hand-slap someone for being a pessimist. It just gets tiring, that's all.

Our mods are fabulous, BTW--wouldn't trade them for all the chocolate in the world. :)

I feel the need to quote this.

There's no anti-Chlollie stuff being posted in the Chlollie community.

Once again, Chloisers are guilty... of having an opinion.

Fik clarified that she didn't mean Chlarkers were posting negative comments in the LJ comm.

Oh, I know. I was just reiterating her point.

so back in the day, there was plenty of anti-Chimmy commentary from Chlarkers, and we weren't delusional glue-sniffers back then. What's the difference? Technically that was CANON and she was HAAAPPPY.

What's disheartening to me is being attacked and bullied for having another opinion. Just like Cnoisers do.

After this, how can Chlolliers, in all honesty, complain and whine about Cnoisers picking on them and preaching Ollie/Dinah, when they are openly bullying and insulting others as well? For merely having a different opinion? For posting comments? Do Chlolliers own the internet now? Give me a fucking break.

I think people get pissed off. They blow off steam. It doesn't make it right.

I think they wanted it to be seen :/

But at least now we're all clear where we stand. I just needed people to know were I stood because I have fans of both ships friended.
