You may not know it but there is a vicious battle being fought between Tennis and Football. You see, Wimbledon isn't used to another sport grabbing the headlines, grabbing the viewers and stealing its thunder.
But it's up against the world cup; the biggest sporting event in the world so what you gonna do?
Well, first you have Federer losing the first two sets in his first match and weirding people out enough to switch over to the match to see if the world has indeed gone topsy turvy. And then...and then you have the saga of THE NEVER ENDING MATCH between Isner and Mahut, which will no doubt end with either a death or the apocalypse or both.
So far tennis isn't doing too badly in fighting back against footy in the headlines stakes.
This hilariously funny
live blog on the match makes me want to send fan mail to the person writing it ♥
And talking of football: ENGERLAND!!!!!! We won. We actually won a match. I'd forgotten what that felt like. There was much rejoicing and celebrating the win and the fact that the team had remembered how to pass a ball to each other. Happy, happy days!
And now we face Germany on Sunday. And of course it brings back memories of every time that Germany has kicked us out of a big tournament. Why, God, why?
Of course, we're going to win.
*chants* "Five-One, even Heskey scored..."
