Chlark and Arwen
I love Smallville and I love Merlin. I adore Chlark and I'm getting there with Arwen.
It's very odd being on the other side of the canon/mythos/destiny fence. I see the same old comments from a different perspective. It's enlightening in a way. Uncomfortable in others.
I can't bring myself to defend Arwen using the legend/fate/destiny argument. It's not why I like them anyway. I can't bring myself to use any Arwen icons with words such as destiny awaits. Too many knee jerk reactions to the words. I can't blame people for not want to see it happen. I know how it feels. It doesn't stop me from wanting it to happen.
I want a different ending too. A happy one for Arthur and his would be Queen. I have no interest in seeing him heartbroken and Gwen changing beyond recognition into the woman we know from legend.
It's interesting how insight into one fandom can alter the way you interact in another and yet your views about both fandoms remain unchanged. Nothing will ever top Chlark for me despite the canon and yet I'm falling for Arwen despite the canon.
