So, I was just reminded of something I had totally forgotten about: ages ago, Mike suggested I make a project of visiting every independent bookstore in New York City, and write a blog about it. I think maybe I should do that. I mean, I've been wanting to write more, and not just journal-style. I've been contemplating starting up a blog to do ( Read more... )

I think it's a more noble endeavor than documenting all of the Starbucks in NYC, which I know someone has done. I'd say go for it - we all need a slightly odd, vaguely quixotic project now and then.

As for names...No Page Unturned. No Store Unpaged. CityPages. IndyPages. Paging Through.... (I'm on a "page" roll here, clearly.)

You could always dub yourself "the Page Master", too. :)

...all the Starbucks in NYC? -_-

Ahahahaha. I should totally call myself the Page Master. I like No Page Unturned, too.

Actually, it's a project to document all the Starbucks in the world, and has apparently expanded into a documentary film since last time I checked in 2005 or so... As I see it, this story provides two inspirational morals:

1) You can do pretty much anything if you have a decent premise. Just check to make sure nobody else's done it before, and you should be good.
2) There are an awful lot of Starbucks in NYC.

I'm noticing the increasing prevalence of 1) every time I go to a bookstore these days (cf. Julie and Julia, the complete works of A.J. Jacobs, etc). So perhaps this project could be your path to fame and fortune! Or even an Internet meme. Only time will tell.

*laugh. I would love for visiting and writing about bookstores to become my path to fame and fortune. Moderate amounts of fame and fortune, anyway. ^_^

I'm still uncertain if documenting every individual Starbucks is a decent premise. I guess it depends on how you do it? And possibly who's doing the looking. I'm not that interested in thousands of Starbucks, so how you documented it had better be really damn cool for me to think doing so was worth your time. *grin.
