conundrum

The other day, shortly before I geared myself up to discuss with my parents, particularly with my father, the breakdown of communication between us, my father said that he was surprised that I was looking for a job teaching. When I asked him why, he said that he'd always thought I was going to go really far with my writing and that my talent was wasted on teaching.

I'm not sure whether to be flattered or outraged.
