It's getting hotter.
On Tuesday I was at Kylie's place and we watched Phantom of the Opera. Before that though I watched Kylie play a bit of Kingdom Hearts 2 I finally saw the sole reason why I even bought the first game to begin with. There he was, in full glory... Auron. I was very happy to say the least.
I had a great time yesterday watching Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. The movie was alright. The trailer looked far more exciting anf fun than the movie actually was but it was worth it because Martin Short looked so brilliant as Jack Frost. It's been an age since I last saw him in a movie so I was thrilled. For some reason the movie went for around 2 hours but nothing much happened. It was a simple story which went around in a neat little circle. My favourite character, Bernard, wasn't in it which disappointed me greatly. I really missed his presence. The movie left me feeling happy and excited, which is strange for a Christmas movie. For some reason it worked and I didn't feel sufficated by cheesy Christmas slogans and false cheer. Perhaps it's an indication that this years Christmas will be alright for me and not filled with uncertain sadness.
After the movie my friends and I hung out at Max Brenner. My favourite chocolate bar in the world. I had fun hanging out especially because, since I went to Supanova, I have made two new additions to my friends pool. It amused me because I hadn't actually met one of them since yesterday. I just talked to him online. For some reason I didn't notice him at Supanova at all. Haha! Poor kid. Sometimes making friends isn't so bad.
I have been trolling YouTube and watched this game review of FinalFantasy12. It mentions a lot of negative points about the game. I can logistically understand some of those negative aspects concerning game play but I don't agree. At the very least the game, despite all the negitivity in this review, still managed to score an 8.0 rating.
I sincerly hope that their opinion on character development isn't true, but it probably is. Such a shame. Characters have always been the first and foremost point of interest for me. Where I am right now in the game I would have to agree with their review on the characters. Some hints have started to show that there might be some underlying interest but nothing concrete has happened yet. And yet... ultimately reviews are just reviews, based on opinions and compare/contrasts with other games of its genre and franchise. Never before have I had so much fun battling monsters while going from point A to point B. I agree that a lot of the strategy has gone out of the game, because you pre-program everything but it reduces the grind and worse comes to worst you can always turn the Gambits off and manipulate the characters by hand. The Magick consumption of Summons and Quickenings is horrendous and render your characters practically useless afterwards when it comes of using magick but the trade off is that you accumulate those magick points back when you move around, albeit slowly.
I love how difficult the battles are. When you are in an area that you can't handle you'll know about it almost instantly. The freedom of the map and camera movement lends itself to exploration and thus, ultimately levelling up. I get a thrill from exploring the map, even if it means constantly fleeing. I like exploring every nook and cranny. Treasures respawn after a while, as do monsters. More frequently in some spots than others. The visuals are really nice. The world is vivid, but right now... everything is just desert. Rabanastre is flanked by desert on all sides. You get kind of bored of it. And yet some things are still really amazing like the Sandsea. I won't be getting over that place any time soon. Despite there being some great things and me slowly moving into greenery it still feels kind of bland. Maybe it's the art style. Maybe the musaic and atmosphere. Whatever it may be, I havn't found a place as beautiful and wonderous as some of the locations in FFX. FFXII is bright but there is nothing very vibrant. I should just drop it, it seems stupid to complain about this when I don't even know what this is.
I watched an episode of Star Trek Enterprise today (that's a lie.. I watched three) and in ep 4 of season four I saw this guy who seemed really plain, and a bit old. But then something happened. At first his voice reminded me of someone whom I couldn't think of. Then at certain angels he reminded me of someone. And lastly I was tormented till the end of the show thinking that it had to be him but maybe I was insane and it wasn't. But it's all cool. I am not insane and my skills at recognising some people is still in working order. it was Brent Spinner! AKA Data from TNG. Ha! That was cool!
And a happy b'day goes out to Sam for today and also a very happy b'day shout-out to
arklan for tomorrow.
You old farts!
Ja Ne!
