Creid....

I have fallen head over heels in love with Creid.

...I feel I've discovered the precise mode of musical expression I was seeking within myself. With this album, I have given form to the "creid" within my heart. The album title, which means "belief" in Gaelic, is a message to those who feel they have lost sight of their ambitions for the flood of information this era surrounds us with. At the same time, it also affirms to me that I have rediscovered my own path... Yasunori Mitsuda.

It is the celtic music overtones, mixed with the haunting female vocals.

And the thing that makes it the biggest winner... it was born out of Xenogears. I can't say that I love the game just yet, as I haven't even scratched the surface of it yet. On one hand... the graphics really bite. The controls are infuriating to say the least, and you cannot quickly advance the text. A few good points are that the story looks really promising. The characters, regardless of their crap visual quality are damn cute looking.  And all other good points have some biased attached to it. This game is of course what spawned Xenosaga, and I adore Xenosaga. I find it so much fun seeing the origins. Right now my biggest joy is Citan Uzuki. Has Jin's last name, and looks like him too, what with that green get up. Also the people who live in Barts hideout all call Bart 'Young Master', something very reminiscent of Jr.'s 'Little Master' title.

Something else which I love is the music. I can attribute this to two tings. An amalgamation of the fact that the music is rather damn good and the fact that it takes me back a few years, as Marc had sent me a good number of tracks from this game. I never realised, or if he told me I had forgotten where the songs originated from. Going through this game, hearing such familiar tunes... having them contexturalised... it makes me nostalgic and you can't know how much it means to me; how much it makes me love this music even more, and how happy and moved I am on the inside. I felt like crying uncontrolaly when I listened to Small Two of Pieces.mp3 5.9mb. It has been far too long. I had forgotten how utterly brilliant the track is. That mixture of happy/sadness which floats through the air thanks to the flute and harp... ahh, I could just drown in it!
I love how the theme is interwoven throughout the game. Well.. I'm assuming it is, I'm not that far into the game at all. But an instrumental version of the song plays on the world map, which is very cute. It makes me so happy on the inside... and mellow. Very mellow.

Run through the cold of the night as passion burns in your heart
Ready to fight, a knife held close by your side
Like a proud wolf alone in the dark with eyes that watch the world
And my name like a shadow on the face of the moon

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I can find the answer
And then, we can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world

Cold fire clenched to my heart in the blue of night
Torn by this pain, I paint your name in sound
And the girl of the dawn, with eyes of blue, and angel wings
The songs of the season are her only crown

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I can find the answer
And then, we can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world

We met in the mist of morning, and parted deep in the night
Broken sword and shield, and tears that never fall
But run through the heart
Washed away by the darkest water
The world is peaceful and still

Broken mirror, a million shades of light
The old echo fades away
But just you and I can find the answer
And then, we can run to the end of the world
We can run to the end of the world

Here's a close up of the coloured stuff... and it didn't come out but that white... is actually naples yellow.

As always... click on any of the photos for the full size.

Any advice on the painting would be appreciated. It's due Wednesday.
