spn_j2_bigbang started posting \o/ I'm almost done with my cover and sort of midway through the other picture I'm doing. Lots of Missouri :)
And speaking of bigbang, here's an art rec: go take a look at machinistm's artwork. I love the cleanliness of the first piece and the mix cover is just lovely ( Read more... )

rec, blather

P.S: I'm unhealthily obsessed with Star Trek Reboot fandom. Somebody save me!

Sorry, I can't help there. *encourages obsession*

You suck :( *sigh* I have yet to think up cracky scenarios for art, by which point I'll be totally beyond help. But I think I can feel crackart coming soon...

But I think I can feel crackart coming soon...

You should do the reboot version of that TOS episode where for some reason the dress up as 1930s Chicago gangsters. (I've forgotten the title or the details, but I'm sure there was a ganster ep, I remember the visusals.) It could be Spock/Uhura with Spock belonging to the mob an Uhura is a jazz singer. Meanwhile Kirk gets into brawls in their speak-easy...

Haha, that sounds pretty awesome actually :D I am doing a Morgana/Gwen drawing right now, but once I get that and my spn art done, I might just try that one out...

It really is :D And the story it's for isn't half bad either :P I totally forgot to comment, but nice work!

Oh Chris Pine, I have watched so many awful movies for your hotness :( It's not right to be that attractive...and woah, surprise Gina Torres on my screen and Connery on another channel. It's like a deluge of hotness everywhere!

Also, the time when I start drawing crack art is when I know there's just no saving me from a fandom. It hasn't happened yet, but I can feel it creeping on me.

...You are a freak.

And thanks for that. Now all I can think of is Kirk smirking at Uhura, Uhura frowning at him and Spock rolling his eyes in the background in his own exasperated Vulcan way. Damn you! *shakes fist*

Colbert was awesome! I really love what he's doing and the sacrifices (oh noes, the hair!) he's making.

Letterman is not all that funny to begin with, but man, that was horrible. WTF, DAVE??

P.S: I'm unhealthily obsessed with Star Trek Reboot fandom. Somebody save me!
I know exactly how you feel. :D

I used to find Colbert funnier more consistently on the Daily Show and only watched the Colbert Report off and on, but I really do like the guy and the episode was hilarious. And yes, I'm really happy that he's entertaining the troops, I think people forget about them way too easily.

I've never really found Letterman funny, but this was just...

Re: Star trek, it's a sickness! I was drawing Gwen/Morgana but suddenly I find myself drawing Kirk and Uhura and Spock now! I can't stay away!

Even though TDS will always hold a very special place in my heart, I'm pretty fond of TCR. I love all of Stephen's creative energy and especially the way he can engage and rouse 'The Nation' for all kinds of good causes.

*glares at Letterman some more*

but suddenly I find myself drawing Kirk and Uhura and Spock now! I can't stay away!
I DO NOT MIND THIS AT ALL.

That is a lovely song. I kept thinking that parts of it sounded like it was influenced by -- I wasn't sure what, maybe Cantonese pop? And then I poked around and found the "accusations of plagiarism" section of Pritam's Wikipedia entry (links in the references section) and this YouTube comment from a different upload of the song's video:

"...this song is copied from three different songs. The intro music is copied from Indonesian singer Anggun's French Hit, Etre Une Femme (2004). Some of the tunes are copied from Tamil song Ottagathe. And there is a part in the middle of the song that copied from Indonesian singer Agnes Monica's song Tak Ada Logika (2005). Just check out those original songs in youtube."

So -- huh. Interesting? And I was off in thinking Cantopop. But it's still a lovely song; thanks for linking it.

I hadn't realized Pritam had composed it, because this being copied...I am completely unsurprised. He's a musical kleptomaniac. Oddly enough, given my comment about this not being by Rahman, the tamil song referenced here that has a similar sort of beat and which I can somewhat see as an influence as well is by Rahman (incidentally, composed about 11 years before Anggun's song). But yeah, after hearing Anggun's song, it's pretty clear how heavily Pritam's copied it. So, um, enjoy the song for it's pretty visuals and the singer's lovely voice then if not for any new tune value? :)

Hey, all of these songs are equally new to me! And the whole borrowing/plagiarism issues here are pretty interesting, so I just consider it a bonus from your rec. ;)

Haha, glad to have been of service :P There's a whole site by an Indian guy dedicated to Indian movie composers who find themselves..."inspired" by songs that their target audience might not necessarily be familiar with. I spent way too much time on that site when I first found it XD Another reason why I love Rahman so much, he doesn't mess about with things like that.

I am so surprised :P

It's gotten so bad! I was drawing Gwen/Morgana and then suddenly, I was drawing Kirk and Uhura and Spock! And they're just sitting around and being boring too, I can't even get them to make out (or, well, as much as I can get anyone to make out in my art) :/
