I really don’t know what to say…….Riverdance equals WOW.
Everything about that performance was captivating. I found myself exclaiming with delight; feeling my heart filling with pride at the Irish in my veins; mad with desire to be back on stage and dancing again; trying not to cry; and hoping and praying that one day I can journey to Ireland to visit my roots. …durr…*drool*…
The theater was the same one I went to for On The Record. It’s 118 years old and beautiful.
We were fourth row, but the 3 rows in front of us were for season ticket holders. No one else appeared. We could see them as if we were in front row…NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF US.
The costumes were GORGEOUS. I felt as if I was in New York during the original show’s heyday…the music and about half of the choreography was the same. The singers sounded exactly the same as the originals. The band ROCKED MY ASS OFF. They are soooo talented. It’s hard to believe that such beautiful music and rhythm can come out of 5 wonderful people so perfectly. And the dancers? I can’t even express my gratitude and awe. Nothing can come out of my mouth that will equal the energy and precision they exemplified. I both wanted to fall out of my chair weeping and jump up there with them and demand that they take me as their pupil. Absolutely fantastic.
The finale was amazing; everyone came out and danced…with the speakers near us, the band playing full out, and being so close to the stage…it was thunderous. I could feel the song in my heart, literally and figuratively. I was completely joyous. It was amazing. Almost like Easter all over again (for anyone who doesn’t know…Easter is my FAVORITE holiday)
And I got autographs. ROCK ON! Waited out in the alley for about 20 minutes and got 36 sigs. They were all SOOO NICE. I even got to stand and talk to a group of about 6 dancers for a couple minutes. They treated me as if I was one of their friends and the talk was nice and casual. It was so cool; a bunch of them had Irish and Scottish accents…I want to talk like that! Those accents are so beautiful. *sigh*
That’s all for now; I’m running out of good adjectives. I need a thesaurus. *smirk*
