Well not really yearly, but I am very bad at updating my livejournal. Like I said in my last entry due to my current work situation I will not be attending AUSA for the first time this year. Perhaps next year, or maybe I will try to get a different convention other then Otakon and Katuscon in this year.
I have made a ton of progress on two cosplays (well maybe not a ton, but since i normally do most of my work 3 weeks out from a con, this is a ton of progress.) I finished the hat and jacket for my BM Yuna costume, the dress is probably 40% done, I am having trouble with the skirt because it has this weird texture to it and I cannot replicate it. I haven't given up yet so all is not lost. I only have to finish the dress, shoes , staff and small accessories (leg warmers, hair braid, and earring). I also made a tutorial of sorts for the hat that I will post in the next week or two once I get the pictures sorted and type something out, so look for that if you are interested.
I am also very excited to be working on my Sizer cosplay again. I have been working on this thing for probably 4 years now. I have made it once, but was so underwhelmed by the end result I decided to scrap it (oh the agony T_T). However, with experience on my side I have decided to re-do the costume and am confident I can nail it this time.
And now that you have read my babble...
Yuna and Paine hats, I believe that Yuna's has some orange and black around the top but I but i need some better refs to do that. I love how the hat looks, I'm pretty proud of it =P.
These are my armor bits of Sizer, they are carved out of pink insulation foam and I used wood filler (the white bits) to fill in gaps and holes. I am not satisfied with the shape and have to do some creative thinking to figure out how make them more how I want them. I still don't know how I want to finish these. Either paper mache and paper clay, or possibly fiberglass.
This lumpy mess is going to be molded into my helmet. The first helmet I made I spent so much time on and loved so much I named him. Stanley. This is Stanley II, and I believe he will be a major improvement to Stanley I because the first one was made entirely of paperclay and is VERY HEAVY, not to mention not very accurate. This one is done with expanding foam, it should be lighter and more comfortable. I will post pictures of the process when he is more complete.
I need to start working on the chest piece, but need to make a run to Home Depot first.
Yay for progress. Now I will go work on that tutorial.
