Got a new job selling diamonds and engagement rings. Ooo, handling diamonds all day *drool* and when there are no customers I can take them out of the cabinets and try them on to my hearts content.

Anyway, am now insanely busy. Schedule is now:

Monday 11am-4pm work at ADC, 7.20pm-9.20pm dance class
Tuesday 9am-7.30pm uni
Wednesday 9am-5pm work ( Read more... )

...it's really, really hard to work at a place all day and not end up wanting/buying stuff from it. u_u

I srsly recommend you have at least one day without work of any sort, whether that be sat or sun. On top of studying, which you will hopefully be doing at least some of, there's shit like cooking, cleaning the house, doing laundry, sorting out admin stuff and all the rest of the fun times that come with living in your own place. And it's also nice to be able to do some stuff for yourself, or go to the gym or paint your toenails or whatever. Plus sleep. apparently it's good for you.

C'mon, it's not like you're going to be strapped for cash...

Yeah I can't have any days off, it may happen that I only have 1 shift at riv each weekend, but it may happen that I have 2, depends on their rostering needs. I have been studying between classes at uni and also on the train on the way to work. Washing and cooking and cleaning I've been doing late at night ( ... )

Sounds like you need to get your housemate to wash her own goddamn dishes, more than anything else. If she's using your stuff she should respect it, and if she's not respecting it she should buy her own. You're totally within your rights to say something about that.

I guess all I'm saying is, wherever avoidable, don't get yourself in a situation where your staying afloat is ultimately dependent on you keeping everything together in an intensely complicated system for months at a time. Nor one where you can just barely manage everything even when everything's going according to plan. At some point you'll get sick or tired or unexpectedly busier or find yourself unable to give a fuck for a while, and, well, something's gotta give eventually...

Good luck with the whole thing, anyway, since it looks like I won't be seeing you for a couple of months. :( If you need tips on how to spend ridiculously small amounts of money on cheap healthy food, or just need someone to rant at, my phone is always phoneable....

congrats on the new job. sorry to hear about the crappy roommate. i have talked to my friend about your place but she felt it may not work, partly because she and her friend want to rent together, and partly because they have a large dog.

have you tried bulletin boards at the various tertiary institutions in the city? also, international students tend to be a safer bet as they are usually more independent and respectful of others' property.
