oboes out of tune.
The concert today had some nice moments, but some very out of tune (oboe) moments. I tried. I called a few sectionals just to tune several of the exposed passages. Some of them went well in the concert some of them didn't. The flutes and the horns did a nice job though.
The English horn solo went well, but I was using the same reed I used for my Mannes audition, my UDQ and the Wind ensemble concert. That reed has served me well but I doubt I will use it for my next concert or musical event. (which is probably going to be in October next year)
And the rest of the day was cool (not literally; it was VERY hot today).
This week will probably prove to be a very difficult one, especially with my May term class. I'm having difficulty staying alert (and thus accomplishing something) but I'm having even more difficulty falling asleep. The whole week is probably going to be like this. I just have to keep fighting and pressing on. Well, I'm going to try to get some sleep now, though I doubt it will work.
