Long Beach..HERE I COME!!! haha that sounds really cheesy. But let me talk about today. So it was the day of my audition. I woke up at 6:00...hit the snooze button, finally got out of bed at 6:30. Put on something decent, made sure I had everything including an old theory book that I was planning to study on the way there but didn't because I was too nervous, grabbed a pop tart, and headed for LB. There was no traffic on the 405, so we got there at 8:00. I stood around, nervously eyeing the rest of the kids. I spotted another girl with a Loreè oboe case...competition. I noticed her eyeing me as well. There was no coffee, so my dad made a quick run to Starbucks. I signed up, 2nd person on the wind list. Then, I was surprised to see a famliliar face- Ricardo-yes, the clarinet player from lachsa, would be auditioning as well. Even though I don't know him well, iI was grateful he was there. We made small talk, and then I happened to see another familiar face, the face of Johnathan Richards. "Cool," I thought. We had an assembly sort of thing and the director guy seemed really cool. Then, it was time for the thoery placement exam. I sat in between Ricardo and Johnathan and we eyed eachother's papers. Blah blah blah. It was over. Then I got a practice room...a pretty ghetto practice room by the way. In what seemed to be the longest 10 minutes of my life, I was called up. Blah blah...cool people. I heard the Loreè girl play..."fuck." Then, it was my turn. They made me play the whole thing...no scales though. They said...I "have a good sound and good technique (ha) and want me to attend their school." AWESOME, I thought. And I get state paid lessons as well. So yea, it was a good audition experience and this huge weight is lifted off my shoulders and..I never want to play Handel Sonata No. 1 ever in my life again.
