Okay i just realised that this character might get offensive to Acadians and other French Canadians BECAUSE LOL IT'S FRENCH CANADA AND QUEBEC.
So.
YES I KNOW THAT QUEBEC ISN'T THE ONLY FRENCH-SPEAKING PART OF CANADA.
Thus why in aphdressingroom , he'll be portrayed a little differently than in nonstopstates where he is only Québec.

I don't think you should worry about being an OC. Many RPers in the beginning had little to no canon material to work off of, and still others picked particular time periods on which to base their characters. Really, I think a lot of people were essentially playing OCs anyway, and I include myself in that category....IMHO, for a series like Hetalia, it is more important to tell a good story and make your character act in a way that makes sense for the country than it is to follow canon. As long as it makes historical and cultural sense, I personally have no problem with OCs, and I believe you do a good job on all counts. You are also lulzy, which is always good. &hearts I particularly like that you can make Matthieu passive-aggressive without being annoying.

tl;dr I think you're awesome ok. Oh yes, I tried making pain doré a while ago. It was very tasty, so thank you for telling me about it! :'D

I'm a total fag for your Russia ;A; so honestly, no matter how far from canon -you- consider him to be (i find him pretty close to his canon portrayal, despite the little you could work from :'D), he is AMAZING.
As fort the OC part, well i was mostly concerned if people could see some canada left in Matthieu since well, he is-but not quite-but is actually Canada. But glad to know i haven't bothered you with that side yet |D;
