ack! my insidious plan was foiled again!
soooooo close, so close! i got the much-anticipated call from popefelix, geek extraordinaire, last night around 6:00, telling me that mr.compy was all repaired & good to go. so i left work (after staying 30 minutes late b/c i'm so far behind), & drove from kiawah island to the other end of christendom- downtown charleston by way of john's island, then james island. collected mr.compy & headed to the far reaches of the west ashleyan empire w/ my prize. all this at high speeds & much anticipation, mind you... only to arrive at home & discover that i was missing the main power cord- the one that goes from the CPU to the #@$%ing wall.
i have a vague memory of tripping over this cord as i wrangled mr.compy into the car on the way to the vatican for repairs... but i also have a vague memory of finding an orphan cord & not knowing what it was for but thinking to myself "hm, self, this looks important." so i tore apart all possible places in my tiny tiny apartment and found nothing... so i'm leaning toward the first memory being the accurate one. the pope said he had an extra one anyway, but i won't be able to get my hot little hands on it until saturday. ack! foiled again!
it's just as well, since the fish i was hoping to (virtually) fry no doubt has something fun planned for the weekend already. so it looks like my friday night will be spent trying to discover why my recently cleaned fishtank has grown as cloudy as pondwater. woo- excitement.
ah, well, tomorrow will be fun, fabuLor will be in town & she'll have time to play for once. i have no idea what we'll do, but everything's fun when you've got a fabuLor. i'll also be trotting back to the vatican to grab that elusive powercord from the pope...
