have i mentioned lately that i have the best cat in the whole world? i was late to work this morning b/c i was waiting for him to eat before i poked him... & he didn't seem to have food on his mind at all. he's never been very food-oriented, he does not come running when i fill his bowl, & has never gotten excited over treats- he could take 'em or leave 'em. the only thing that really interests him is the intestinal lubricant lax'aire- a hairball preventive gel that tastes like sweet fish. (yes, i have tasted it.) he's more affection-oriented, but of course, you had probably already guessed that. so this morning, i finally went & got him off of his ottoman where he was snoozing ever-so-cutely curled on his side w/ all his feet in a stack, & i brought him to his food bowl. he sat down in front of it & looked at me questioningly, & i petted & patted his big fuzzy head. i said "eat!" and he did. just like that. wondermous beastie.
so then i was able to give him his shot. he came up on the couch & watched while i mixed the insulin & loaded the syringe. at the proper time, he crossed my lap & sat down beside me on the right side & was very still & patient while i injected him. then he needed his treat & some loving pats & strokes & then i was off to work- only 20 minutes late. my plan is to remove his food bowl at night before i go to bed, so that he'll be hungry in the morning when we wake up. he's an all-day & night grazer, so this will be a big change for him. i hope he doesn't start waking me up at 3:00 a.m. to tell me his tummy is empty & there's no food out to snack on... my little wondermous beastie.
so that concludes the news-of-the-cat portion of our program, tune in later for my thoughts on reincarnation.
health,
