Squirrel Encounter on Main Road
i came in a freakin holiday for 2 lousy, lame & lonely emails. WTF? yesterday i had 3. everybody's out Memorializing on this Day, i guess. everybody but me. sigh...
i almost hit a squirrel this morning. seems the wildlife is restless 'round these parts. the streets are littered w/ the Unfortunate Bold. but mr.squirrel & i communicated telepathically in the split second when we simultaneously realized that we were on a collision course. i shouted "NNNNOOOOOOEEESSSSS!" w/ every ounce of my being -in slow motion, of course-- & the squirrel immediately responded by backpedaling & reversing course. i took further evasive action by standing on the brakes & jerking the wheel hard to the left. luckily, we both live to tell the tale... i watched in my rear-view, & i saw him get narrowly missed by an oncoming van as he finally succeeded in crossing the road. and what- pray tell, dear squirrel -is so damn important about the other side of the freakin road? what does it have that this side ain't got? these here trees can do you right, mr.squirrel- they got nuts. so what's up? pick a side & stay there.
