If you would have told me 2 weeks ago that because I am not eating breakfast I am messing up my metabalism, not filling myself with that much needed early morning energy, or balancing my diet I would have turned up my nose and blew you off as I had for decades before. I have never been a breakfast person and found myself only eating breakfast on one of two occasions:
- Either my mother or grandmother has gone through the painstaking process of scrambling a few eggs, fried some bacon, and microwaved some sausage links, or......
- It is an early morning after a night of drinking and I need to add some food to my empty stomach so I can stop tasting the alcohol each time I breathe
Since I have started keeping track of what I eat on Livestrong.com I have become very much aware of what I was doing that was keeping me at the same weight regardless of how much work I had been doing. It was the damn midday carb and fat load that would tide me over until dinner. I would eat either a McDonalds chicken sandwhich, KFC, Pizza Hut personal pizza, or the slew of other fast foods that slap you in the face with high calorie, fat, and carbs numbers. Since I have cut those items out of my diet for the past few weeks (except for the few indulgences, very few to be exact) I find myself unable to make it to 9am each morning without hearing the rumble of my stomach adding some extra bass to the spainish music here at work. I decided to purchase a few boxes of Oatmeal because of the handy packet size deliciousness that it comes in. It is a portable food that can easily follow me to work, and when I begin to hear the pangs of my stomach I whip up some healthy, delicious, filling Oatmeal to tide me over until lunch time.
In a seperate note I feel as though I should apologize to all those that I turned my nose up to and blew off :( You were right and I was wrong AGAIN!!! Take these small victories now while they last as I am quickly becoming self aware and these victories will soon be gone.
