Let me introduce you to my new fangirl crush!

Dec 03, 2007 16:30

His name is Yahtzee.
He's a British-born, currently Australian-based writer.
With a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder.

And he writes the best freaking game reviews in the world. (I can't wait for him to review Mass Effect, which I finished playing and enjoyed.)

WARNING: All of these reviews are video/audio. Some are NSFW. All are hilariously funny. Well, if you share my sense of humor, that is.

Bioshock
"It isn't like System Shock 2. It is System Shock 2... everything that was cyberpunk then is steampunk now and sometimes it gets a little hard to swallow. How exactly does a steam-powered turret differentiate between friend and foe? I wasn't aware that boiled water could form allegiances."
His commentary on the whole FPS RPG aspect of Bioshock is WONDERFUL. If you're going to watch only one of these, then watch this one. I've played Bioshock and it's extremely atmospheric and really gorgeous to look at, but his criticisms of the game are spot on.

Heavenly Sword Demo (and commentary on Resident Evil 5 trailer)
"Nariko has no Y-chromosome and hair growing out to about 8 feet long which flows jerkily behind her like a rope made of dried tagliatelli. The whole effect doesn't so much scream battle-hardened swordswoman as is does the phrase 'try and pull this one off, cosplayers'."
WE MAY NEED YOU TO PLAY TWING-TWANG!

Psychonauts
"It's all kind of like if Tim Burton knocked up David Lynch in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and he did meth right up until the birth."

Tomb Raider: Anniversary
"Everyone knows action-oriented independent women all much more carpet than a malfunctioning vacuum cleaner."
(I love his commentary on remakes.)

Half-Life 2: The Orange Box (also discusses Team Fortress 2 and Portal)
On Half-Life 2: "It's short, but it's cheap and comes with lots of fun extras; not unlike your mum." On Portal: "This is the most fun you'll have with your PC until they invent force feedback codpiece."

OMG, how excited am I about David Tennant being the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car on Top Gear?
I am going to squee squee squee all the way home!

Something I'm not squeeing about:
Russell Crowe committing to State of Play. I... sort of want Brad Pitt back, just for the Pitt/Norton yumminess. I just can't get excited over Crowe (although I think he does an adequate acting job with whatever he does).

top gear, zero punctuation, state of play
