Sep 24, 2009 01:46

When the morning light hit there room, Layla stirred and began to pull herself out of bed and get ready for the day.

Karla knocked on Layla's door with two coffees and a bag of mixed pastries. Well, the bag was floating behind her, because she needed her hands for the coffee. "Layla?" she called. "I brought some thank you pastries for you. And George, if you feel like sharing. And a coffee! Completely drug-free!"

Someone was very grateful this morning.

Layla opened the door, a somewhat grumpy look on his face. "Funny enough I could use a sedative right about now."

The good thing about Craft was that when you dropped everything you were holding in surprise, Craft made sure it all got neatly caught before it fell to the ground and spilled everywhere.

"Hell's fire, Mother Night, and may the Darkness be merciful," she cursed. "Oh, Layla! Do you know why--? How long--?"

She called in a bottle of Kaeleeran red. It wasn't a sedative, but it was strong. "We can skip the coffee if you want."

Layla shoved his hands into his pockets and shrugged nodding for Karla to follow him into the room. "I don't know why. Don't know how long. Pretty sure since I was doing the clothing thing and telling people it was only temporary that the island wanted to mess with my head."

He eyed the bottle and nodded. "Yeah. Let's skip the coffee."

"Yeah, well, I've pretty much up my mind that the island's got a miserable sense of humor, so I can see it," Karla replied, vanishing the coffees and calling into two cups. The bag of pastries stayed, though. "Careful with your first sip," she cautioned, pouring Layla a glass and handing it over. "It's much stronger than most of the wines here."

"You okay?"

"I'll be fine," Layla said taking the cup and giving it a good sniff before taking a sip. "Hopefully tomorrow everything will be back to normal and I can go back to having boobs again."

"Seriously, if Fandom holds this against you for longer than that, it'll just be unfair," Karla said, scowling out the window at the island.

"You'll--" Karla swallowed hard, "...you'll still come to my slumber party tonight, won't you?"

That had been tough. Really tough. If Layla hadn't been so wonderful yesterday, Karla wasn't sure she would have had the courage.

"Will it be all right?" Layla asked. "I mean, I'm technically a guy at the moment. Not that I'm going to be hitting on anyone at the party."

"Of course it'll be all right," Karla said. "It's my party. If I invite someone, they are invited."

"Thanks," Layla said with a sheepish grin. "Hopefully the rest of the girls won't mind."

"Like, I said, it's my party." Karla gave Layla a sly grin. "There will be enough alcohol, there are even odds of them even noticing."

"Yeah, well I might end up drinking all of it."

"Well, if you give yourself alcohol poisoning, I'll be able to Heal it," Karla said philosophically. "Though this is the only time you get to do that without getting me very pissed off about it."

Layla managed to get a laugh out of that. "Yeah, I don't think you need to worry about that," he said managing a small grin. "I just need enough to take the edge off."
