What on earth...Grant, watch out. [hair sneaks up to grab Conrad's ankles]

Don't move, I'll handle it. [strides purposefully towards the hair.]

Oh, you'll 'handle it' sure.... [slightly irritable...but not moving from the table, oh ( Read more... )

It doesn't seem to like magic much. [small laugh]

...You're Conrad's friend, aren't you?

I wonder what gives you that idea. Just a moment. [more crashing noises and Conrad yelling in the background.]

Right. Yes, we get along like a house on fire, Grant and I. Oh, fire, there's an idea.

Basically, a repeat of this scene that I had yesterday with my colleague, though it doesn't seem to have effectively injured you yet.

It may be worth a try, but really, fire just seems to make it angry~.

I refuse to be injured by hair. Bad enough that it is ruining my suit.

My kingdom for a good pair of scissors. Though really I expect that will only make it even angrier.

Hmm, if it gets close enough, you may not have a choice in the matter.

Actually, a friend told me that lemon cake seems to calm it. If you can do any summoning, this might be the time.

Someone has neglected to teach it the importance of personal space.

Lemon cake? Can't hurt, I expect. [And summoning time it is!]

And property damage too. Our furnace will never be the same again.

Do tell me how that works out. We didn't have the knowledge yesterday to test it ourselves.

Someone ought to register a complaint. Not that they pay much attention to that sort of thing here.

Trying it out right now, my dear lady.

Yes, I expect the authorities would find it amusing.

...I'll forgive you this once, but I'm no one's "dear lady." Why are all magicians so... insufferable?

Considering it's likely this creature was of their own devising, incredibly so.

Only being polite. I'll start with the introductions, now that Grant is feeding our visitor. Christopher Smith, delighted to meet you. [Good thing he did not hear that or Yuuko'd be submitted to a speech about the differences between magicians and enchanters.]

That seems to be the going theory.

Yuuko Ichihara, Witch of Dimensions. [Yeah, she'd probably lecture back about the futility of titles, but it's just because she has a cool one.]

Unless this place itself is capable of creating such a thing, which wouldn't be too surprising from what I've heard.

Just Yuuko, then? Or am I risking not being forgiven for liberties in that case also?

No one is quite sure what this place is capable of. Though we all seem to be finding out.

Yuuko is fine. It's the condescending tone that isn't.

I've never experienced a world that regularly inflicts curses on its inhabitants before. It's an even worse misuse of magic than at Stallery.

Right, sorry about that. Force of habit, you know.

Most people create their own curses, though not generally on such an obvious level.

I can tell.

Unfortunately that's true enough.

The lemon cake seems to be working, by the way! Excellent suggestion.
