So, been putting this off quite long enough, and I haven't had much luck searching on my own, so it looks best to try over here instead.

I'm looking for employment. I'm an enchanter, which comes in handy for, well, most things, though I'd rather not have anything to do with preparing food. Never seem to do well with that. I'm quite well educated

Oh, lovely! Have you got an idea yet as to the pay?

I've heard tell of a magical gate connecting the City proper to the shore, for easier accessibility and such. It put me to mind of the Gate Gabriel's staff uses to travel properly to and from other worlds. Perhaps if we examined it, we'd get some idea of the way dimensional and worldly magic works in this place.

Not yet, but I'll be helping out at a magic shop, it seems. Hopefully it'll be enough to make a difference.

Have you started lessons with Conrad yet? His take would be welcome regardless, but I wonder how he'll see it from the point of view of someone still without tutelage.

We've started, but he seems so dead-set on the idea that he has no magic of his own. Well, he'll snap out of it soon enough, I know I did. Remind me to tell him to bring his camera along.

There must be something we can do to cheer him. What about a picnic? He wants to go to the beach with Klartch. We can pack a lunch when we go to that gate. Sandwiches can't be too difficult to make.

Why not tell him about yourself? It couldn't hurt his self-confidence, certainly. I will, or I'll remind him myself.

Now, Christopher, don't get too grand ideas. I very much doubt Cat would like the sort of event you have in mind. Something smaller with people he knows would be best.

Yes, well, you've said it yourself--you should know as well as anyone that when you're raised to believe certain things, you tend to stick by them until you've got no choice.

Perhaps not. He does seem to be fonder of quieter things, doesn't he?

I don't like to put him in a situation where he'll have no choice, but at some point the City is probably going to take care of that for him.
