Additional Character Resource Personality: Rinnosuke Morichika is the Youkai half-breed who runs a shop located near the Forest of Magic called Kourindou. He has a no-nonsense attitude and would rather people not hold spell card battles in his shop. He realizes that there are many things about the people and items inside of Gensokyo that he does not understand; his policy with that is to just stop worrying about it. Sometimes, though, Rinnosuke can't help but to continue pondering about such things. He often shows pragmatic intelligence when coming to a conclusion about people. Conclusion about items, however... not so much.
Most of his merchandise for Kourindou comes from the outside world, which is something Rinnosuke believes to be a major selling point. He also chose the location of his shop, smack dab in the middle between the humans and Youkai because he thought he would be able to do business with both races. While he may own a business, it's not really a business, considering he rarely, if ever, actually gets money for selling goods. Worst of all, Rinnosuke has the tendency to become attached to a lot of the merchandise he acquires and in the end he refuses to sell it. He has a bit of a "collector's spirit" and as demonstrated early on in the light novel, once he has part of a set he strives to finish it off; at the same time, once he completes the set it becomes even harder to sell.
Because he is just a half-breed, he lacks the powers and abilities most other Youkai have; while he does have one useful ability (to know the name and purpose of an item by just looking at it), it's not exactly something that is physically beneficial. Amusingly enough, while Rinnosuke may know the name and purpose of an item, that doesn't mean he'll know how to use it. Many of his conclusions about items are so far off-the-wall you really have to wonder about him. One such example is his conclusion about the use of a Gameboy: Rinnosuke decided that it was meant to enable the user to control humans with a possibility of destroying the world with it. It wasn't until Yukari corrected him that he realized its true purpose--entertainment.
Because he lacks the fighting abilities of other Youkai and is also half-human, Rinnosuke finds it easy enough to get along with both humans and Youkai. For example, he is friends with Reimu, a human shrine maiden who talks to Rinnosuke as though she's talking to a wall, as well as Marisa, who does whatever she wants in Kourindou. He is also fairly tolerant of Youkai who drop by and loiter. Such people tend to use Rinnosuke as a doormat, though--they never actually listen to what Rinnosuke has to say. Instead, they make him listen to them, even if he doesn't want to. In fact, even when Rinnosuke admits he isn't listening to them, most people will continue on with their one-sided conversation. Rinnosuke is often under the impression that no matter what response he gives to people, their own response will be the same.
When he's not trying to get Reimu and Marisa to stop loitering around his shop, Rinnosuke often spends time reading and researching about the outside world. It's definitely a passion of his. On top of that, he has a sort of business relationship with Yukari who procures items for him and occasionally provides the fuel for Rinnosuke's heater--an item from the outside world that he decided he would never sell.
What your character can offer: Rinnosuke has an interesting ability to know the name of purpose of any item, even if it is his first time seeing it. However, that doesn't mean he will know how to use the item. For example, Rinnosuke may know the purpose and name of a computer, but he wouldn't know how to work it without hands-on experience. In addition to that, Rinnosuke owns and manages a store, so he could probably do something with the Inventory in Discedo.
What items will they be bringing with them? Clothes; alas, no naked Rinnosukes today. His Abacus and his merchant pouch will also be joining him on the journey.

Rinnosuke sighed as Reimu prattled on about the things that happened to her that day-primarily about the 'devious' Youkai she had beaten up. The poor Youkai was probably minding its own business when Reimu attacked it, but suggesting such a thing would do nothing but get him an earful from the red-white girl.
What he really wanted to do is get back to reading his book. After all, it was a sunny day and that was how he liked to spend them. Unfortunately, he was forced to stand behind the counter of Kourindou and hope Reimu would get bored and leave. To be honest, he wasn't even listening to her at this point and he distinctly remembered telling her that, and yet here she was, still talking.
"-thought he was somethin', sneaking up on me like that, but I-"
"Reimu, if you're not going to buy anything, I'd like to get back to my book."
As expected, Reimu waved her hand dismissively in Rinnosuke's face and continued her speech as though he had said nothing at all. Didn't this girl have shrine duties to attend to or something? Surely she had something to do besides stand in his shop and talk about things Rinnosuke didn't care about.
"Anyway," continued Reimu, and once again Rinnosuke found himself with a short attention span in regards to her story.
If Reimu left within the hour, he could probably sit down and finish the rest of his book. After all, it wasn't every day a book about building laptops from scratch floated into his shop. Not that he had any of the materials available to build such a thing, but still, it would make a great addition to his shop. Maybe if he was lucky, Yakumo would haul one of those laptops into his shop one day and then he wouldn't have to wonder about how to go about building one.
Rinnosuke knew that it was called a laptop and that it was meant to be a portable computer. So, while a Gameboy was, as Yakumo put it, a machine that allowed a person to control virtual people and possibly destroy a virtual world, a laptop definitely looked a lot more complex; it might just be the thing that allowed a person to control other non-virtual people and destroy a place like Gensokyo.
The more he thought about it, the more stocking a laptop in his shop seemed to be a bad idea. He didn't need people like Reimu or Marisa to get their hands on such a device. Then he'd end up responsible for that destruction.
Maybe it was best to shelve the book somewhere and not sell it. After all, it was the final volume in a collection of eight. How could he bear to part with something like that?

-e this?
Ah, this is a... Wait. Why don't I know the name this object? Strange. I'm afraid I don't know its purpose either, but this note-who is it from?
...Mm? Has it turned on? [...] Are any of you hiding out there? If so, come out and tell me what's going on. I think there's something wrong with me. Not only that, but this place... it isn't familiar at all. It isn't even remotely similar to Gensokyo. Is this the Outside World? What happened to the border?
Yakumo, did you have something to do with this?
