The last time I posted I worked at SNTC. That was a long time ago. Months. Oh well.
I'm only posting this so it imports into Facebook anyways. ha!
So last weekend I went to Toronto with Bree for the Grey Cup. Highlights? Lowlights?
Seeing Ottawa briefly again was a highlight. I had to fly there because flights into and out of TO were nuts and hard to come by. We then drove to TO.
Walking around the Eaton Centre on Saturday reminded me why I like visiting big cities but that's it. Way too many people. And way too many people who just "didn't get" our outfits. Walking to Riderville late afternoon, there was hardly anyone downtown except a few smatterings of CFL fans. Um, hi Toronto! You're hosting the Grey Cup! Try to care a little.
Riderville was like a little piece of home, which was fantastic. Somehow I stayed there for 8 or 9 hours. One of those days/nights where lots happens but not really.
I slept in my outfit and then wore it Sunday. That's definitely a highlight.
We intended to get tickets from scalpers. We had a few chances that in hindsight should have taken but didn't. We had convinced ourselves, as had everyone else we talked to, that we would find cheaper. Nope. Probably b/c there were so many people who were trying to do the same thing at the very last minute and once the game started.
Instead we ended up watching it at the Royal York hotel. Here I am walking through the lobby in a jean skirt, thigh-high green and white socks, a jersey, and a flag as a cap and a plastic helmet and there are women wandering around in ball gowns. Oh well. We actually got a noise violation while watching the game, and we really weren't being loud.
I was honestly a bit down that I flew all that way and didn't get into the game, but then when it was over and we hit the streets, I felt great again b/c Rider Nation took over Front Street and cheered and chanted. The pep band led a mini parade of people shouting Green is the Colour! I was so proud to be from Saskatchewan. I got interviewed by Global National b/c the reporter obviously thought I was at the game. Apparently a clip got on TV, too.
I still can't believe we won. It was great to go but next time I'm going to watch it in the prairies and wreak havoc on our streets if we can do it again. However, I had to watch it with my Bree!! And you really realise there's no place like home once you watch a Grey Cup in Toronto.
