Another few good memories that have been running through my mind.
The Orchid show at Brownies, way before it closed down. It was right after they released Dance Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow! I remember how it was one of the very few, rare time where I felt like the music was beating through me, not just at me. I remember how cathartic it was, and how after their set, my hands were shaking and my legs felt like jelly. Maybe that was just from being abused in the pit, but at the moment, I remember it as being because I felt like there was a huge infusion of life injected into my veins.
One more memory before I go to work; Stan, Denise and I scraping together what little change we had to go buy american cheese, bread and chips. We would take all of that, and go sit by the highway near my house, where there was a little stretch of walkway that nobody walked through because the highway was right next to it. We'd sit and talk and sometimes, if we were lucky enough to have some booze, we'd drink. Denise and I used to have to pee squatting by the trees. Once, there was a rat and Denise and I ran screaming back down the hill, unleashing the girly sides we both denied having.
Oh, what the hell, one more small one for the road; Denise and I drinking forties in the park by ABC, in four inches of snow. We wrapped the bottle up in my scarf and our hands became numb. We were resigned to drinking quickly in the cold park because ABC had just started to crack down on people drinking in there. I think that was the night of the King Django show a few years ago, the first show I took Paul to see in NY, soon after he got here. Though, my memory has always been a bit fuzzy and I tend to combine memories that center around the same people and/or the same places.
Anyhow, my shower calls to me!
