SO I GOT SENT HOME FROM MY PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASS TODAY

I was pretty sick in the class on Friday, and when I walked in, she was like "HOW ARE YOU FEELING" and I told her that my throat hurt a lot (troof) and she was like "GO AND GET SOME REST, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS IF YOU'RE SICK and i don't want you to get other people sick"

so i took it.

hahaha, for all that i think her teaching style is a little...odd, she's very nice.

AND IN OTHER NEWS, I FINALLY FINISHED TRANSLATING THE SECOND PAGE OF SLAYERS

FUCK YEAH.

IT ONLY TOOK ME LIKE A MONTH

but to be fair i didn't work on it for the past month.

Also, I'm comparing what I'm getting to the translation that Tokyopop put out, and man. They really did edit it, even to the point where the entire introduction gets a different mood. In the original, it's just like she's trying to tell the story, but trying not to make eye contact so that she doesn't have to admit that it's her fault, but the translation has her actually screaming at the readers. Like, YELLED AT THE TOP OF LUNG type of thing.

I don't know if it's just that they were trying to put more into the vague language, or just that they were projecting the times where she's screaming and throwing fireballs around, but that's really not what I got from it at all. For all that Lina is chaotic and violently spontaneous, she's not doing that all the time. She's a much deeper character than "RAWR I AM FLAT AND ANGRY HERE HAVE A DRAGON SLAVE"

SO TOKYOPOP, I AM DISAPPOINT

but my stance on localization is a rant for another time.

It's almost February 4th. This is relevant for some reason.

probably to prove that i can actually spell "February."
