a little of it all...

First and foremost, Johnny Cash, I drink to you... The world is greatly diminished from having lost you... You were one of the greatest performers of all time... 9/12/03

Lyrics to one of the songs that touched me most:

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,
Why you never see bright colors on my back,
And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.
Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,
I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,
But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,
Or listened to the words that Jesus said,
About the road to happiness through love and charity,
Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,
In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,
But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,
Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,
For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,
I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,
Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,
Believen' that the Lord was on their side,
I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,
Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,
And things need changin' everywhere you go,
But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,
You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
And tell the world that everything's OK,
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

Rest in Peace Johnny!

Y'all can think I'm strange or whatever, but I firmly believe that is one of the most significant celebrity losses I will ever experience. Johnny Cash was the Man.

Other than that, things have been interesting. Thursday, Ryan and I went out to eat, and then we decided to drive to Watkinsville to get him some clothes since we knew he wasn't going home until Sunday. Then we came back over here and Jaime came over and it was pretty fun. Is that the night Karen came? I don't remember... I know, I'm struggling. Friday, I got to go and have lunch with my Rae. Then Ryan came here after he got off work and we saw Laura for a minute and then we went to BK cuz Ryan was hungry. After that we came back here and did I don't remember what for a while and then Jaime came. We chilled for a long time and then decided we were hungry and so we went to IHOP. That was pretty fun. After all that we came back here and went to sleep. Saturday, I got to see Chip and Rae came over and then Karen and we all went down to the game together. (let me put in a disclaimer right here: all the typos are because my fingers are numb because o-house is too friggin cold) So we went to the game and it was ass hot and ass long, but still fun just because it's football. We won nicely, but I'm pissed as hell we let them score in the last 2 minutes. After that we walked back to Ramsey to Thor and then we waited and waited and waited and then finally got to leave the parking lot. Collectively it took us over 2 hours to get back to o-house. then we gathered out stuff and went to the east side to eat. BK was an experience with the natural high guy and the lady w/ 20 hamburgers and the chick who so rightly decided that winning was better than losing, and also the mangs. By this time, we are like 10:00 leaving Athens because everything took so damn long. We drive and drive and drive some more and we finally get to Marble at 12:30, at which point we wake up my aunt and talk to her for 15 minutes before we goto bed. We were all much friendlier when we woke up. Soon after we got up my mom arrived and we all had some breakfast and talked for a bit. Then we decided to go to granny's. We get there and I get Ryan introduced to everybody and the boys just start climbing all over him. They LOVED him. The baby even fell asleep on him. After ample time at Granny's we move on to Tabby's to see her and the kids and Tilly and John-Mark and her mom. my aunt Edie shows up shortly after having stayed at Granny's to do something and proceeds to tell us how much my granny "liked my little boyfriend," "was so happy I brought him up," and, "was real happy for me that I had one." All my granny's words. How freakin funny is that? I have taken Dick and Oliver up there before and she has never done that. Anywho, we see Tilly and my little John-Mark. He is so beautiful. Ryan and Tabby took lots of pics. That was the first time that most of the people there had seen him so I had to share. Eventually, Tilly had to go, so we all sat around and talked for a little while, and we were all set to go when my mother said no, y'all have to eat first. Long story short(er) we finally made it out of there at like 7:45, which leaves us almost 10:00 getting back here. I walk in the door and Laura Karen and Jaime all pick that precise moment to call. It was crazy. Laura ended up coming down, and Jaime over, which was good seeing eveybody, and Jaime was good company while I did laundry. It has been a good weekend, but I'm tired as hell, and am going to bed right now.

Peace be with you.
