more banality

I had a whole thing typed out, about what has been going on in my life for the past few days, but then my net connection died. And now when I think back on it, I don't think I want to bother trying to express all that again. The gist of it is, life is ok, I could whine about a few things, but we are not homeless or ill, so that's all you need to know.
I just watched Lost in Translation. I enjoyed it immensely. But then, I think its one of those mood movies. You can't go into it expecting some fantastic revelation, or uplifting story, or anything of that sort. so two thumbs up for that.
I am reading Contact, by Carl Sagan. So far, its different from the movie, but not in what I would consider truly significant ways. Oh, the book is deeper in background material, and has a lot more of the author's "philosophy" but the core of it is still there.
I also picked up The Left Hand Of Darkness by LeGuin, which I have been meaning to read for well over ten years now.
Shannon picked up the Franz Ferdinand cd, which is good so far, I have heard about half of it. I hope to get my hands on it tomorrow so I can hear the whole thing.
I am going to stop here, I now have a lapful of sleepy kitten, and I want to cuddle her a bit, which I can't do while typing.
(How is it that kittens always smell good?)
If I haven't mentioned A Small Good Thing before, I do so now. If you like any sort of ambient, I recommend Slim Westerns and Cool Cool Water.
ambient music for western movies.... excellent....
