Even before watching Intimate Note, I already noticed this undeniable connection between GRi. i cannot explain it but somehow, without all the fanservice that they were once so blatantly doing, you can feel their affection for each other onscreen. Watch Ji's eyes, Ji's smile, Ji's ever present concern for Ri and I never had a doubt that Ji is the only person in BB that really understand the workings of Ri's mind.
What I really want to know though is why oh why did their fanservice suddenly die down? I think maybe Seungri started to grow up (and it's hard growing up when people expect so much from you and watches over you constantly), and Ji understands that Ri wants space (silently) but misses Ri (jealousy on rooftop and confrontation in Madam B and Come To Play). The others love Ri and cares about him but Ji's the only person that really do get him.
I mean... just look at the way Ji always stands up for Ri when people are going too far with their accusations on Ri. Like his issue with women and Ri's awkward relationship with his hyungs among others. And Ji's the only guy who gets to annoy the hell out of Ri but stil stay the same at the end of the day. That really, sometimes, if you watch interviews you'll see that Ji and Ri has this sort of inside joke that the others don't really get or that the others aren't really interested in.
I like Ri a lot. Like you've said, even though he's over flowing with confidence, he's so sure of himself, still he's just really afraid of failing.
I think, the charm of GRi fics is that they seem so real. It deals of real situations and emotions and possibilities and what ifs and maybes.
