So ancient greek art and architecture have consumed my waking thoughts. We technically are done studying it in class, but I have a paper due Tuesday and a make-up test (since I missed it the other day) due Thursday, so still a relevent subject to be thinking about. But, uh, yeah, can't stop thinking about it. I even bought The Clash of the Titans the other day (LOVE that movie!) and we finally finished watching Troy this evening. And I found my copy of The Iliad and will be starting that soon. So yeah, obsessing. But anyway, I do think that Troy was a good movie. The acting was fab by all - Hector was great, as was the Spartan king who was Mad-Eye Moody - Brenden Gleeson. My irish brother, Love him! Brad Pitt was a great Achilles and pretty boy Orlando was a great pretty boy Paris. But Saffron Burrows frankly looked awful. She was about as thin as a ruler and I actually had trouble watching her because her thinness was, for me, affecting her acting. But other than that I enjoyed it.
Yesterday was Gavriella's 4th birthday. My baby's such a big girl! I think she had a great day. She had camp in the morning where everyone sang happy bday to her. Then I took her to the toy store to pick out something. She chose a bathtub to wash her baby doll in, a dinosaur puzzle, and a Littlest Pet Shop toy. Then we went for ice cream and since it was her bday, she got it for free, yay $4 saved. Then after dinner we sang again, had cake, and opened presents. Where upon she got a dinosaur toy and a dinosaur robot which she has decided is her favorite. So at bedtime, she scooped up all her toys into her blanket and slept with them. but then today she surprised us by disappearing into our bed and sleeping for about 4 hours. When she woke up she had a raging fever and I'm not sure if it's gone away fully yet. But tomorrow is military appreciation day at Fun Plex (it's like a super mini amusement park), so I hope she's feeling well enough to go.
Today I steam cleaned the carpet in the back room and kids room, FINALLY!! They look sooooooo much better. Then afterward I went to a coffee shop to meet a friend to knit. We're both part of this knitting group of people our age, but they're all regular girls, and um, we're not. So we meet on saturdays and knit by ourselves and have a blast. Anyway, I was rocking the whole indie momma look - braided hair, head scarf, black tank top, olive colored shorts, and chucks. And of course we knit at the indie coffee shop where truly starving artists sell their art for $25 and some indie band's cd was playing on the stereo system. We were in our element. And I noticed some guy kept glancing over at us because either a) we were being too loud for the literati who come to a public place to read, b) he thought Corrie was hot, c) he thought I was hot and couldn't see my huge preggo stomach under the blanket I was knitting, or d) I was being delusional. But frankly I don't think it was d because I caught him glancing over way too many times. But we had fun as always and have decided that next time we're going to the coolest antique store in all of Omaha instead of knitting. And btw, anyone who gets BUST magazine (and all the females on my flist HAVE to check it out! This is not an option girls, I demand you go to the bookstore and get a copy!) will be surprised to see that this fair city is featured in it, 2 page spread mind you, all about the coolest places to go in Omaha. The antique store is listed, but I went to it before I got the newest issue, so ha!
Um I think that's all. Night folks!
