Guilty OTPs

There are some guilty pleasures we all entertain when well hidden far from critics' eyes. All those little stupid things that are in our opinion too undignified and too plebian to bring in the light. Dumb movies, moronic sentimental songs, kitschy pictures, junk food that we all know and love but won't admit it freely. ;->

I remember that when I was still at uni, a discussion arose pertaining some tv soap opera. Oh, everyone felt it was beneath them, that plastic emo-fodder for housewives. But, strangely, almost everyone knew what it was about, how the plot went, who the main characters were etc... Everyone started with the obligatory: "I don't watch this crap, but accidentally I saw the episode number x, and..." For such a band of snobs we were amazingly well versed in the world of crappy soap operas. ;-)

I don't say that everyone just fakes their love for "high culture". Nope. Not that easy. ;-> I'd rather say that many of us fake their disdain for the "low culture".

So I felt that the time came for my cultural coming out. Not total one; I'm not that brave. But there are some pairings from various fandoms, that I feel stupidly drawn to. They are irrational, mostly unsupported by canon, childish, and they make me squee.
Overall, the idea of OTPs in itself is quite idiotic. ;-> The idea of listing them as well. ;-p

The Discworld:
Two misters V aka Vimes and Vetinari
What can I say? Both alike in power and dignity ;-), both the most influential men in Ankh-Morpork, one of them not that cold as he'd seem to be, another one way smarter than he'd let on. Both of them fiercely enamored with their city, both of them share some deep understanding. And yes, I know that Vimes's married. I simply see Vetinari's fascination unrequited. ;-> Oh, just watch closely their interactions. Poor, poor Vetinari.

Star Wars:
It seems that my kink of choice is an unrequited affection. Just look at Obi-Wan: loved his master (master died), loved his apprentice (apprentice turned Vader), could have loved his apprentice's son (but got killed by said apprentice). Crappy life, crappy love-life. Ain't he sweet? ;-P

Matrix:
Neo/Smith.
Tee hee. Trinity, though I love her, may go hang. I see *no other* pairing there. The chemistry code compatibility just sizzles between them. And they have no "happily ever after" but the gruesome death instead. Awww.
Great potential for unrequited, too. ;-)

LOtR:
Aragorn/Elrond
Yes, I'm a perv. Yes, I know that Elrond in canon was Aragorn's father-in-law, and that Celebrian (Elrond's wife) awaited her husband in Aman. I'm aware that there's no justification in all Tolkien's world for this pairing. It's
one of those inexplicable out-of-blue pairings that came and won't be exorcized. By the way, I'm generally averse to *any* pairing, slashy or not, in the Middleearth. Won't fit, won't match, won't make sense. Yet I'm drawn to this one. Go figure.

Elrond/some nice orc
Erm, that one is really embarrassing. Imagine lord Elrond abducted by orcs (no ncs, but some good trashing) and saved by one of them. Imagine the slow journey from enmity to friendship. Imagine orc... Yes, yes, unrequited. ;-> I said it was embarrassing. Yet, I'm still searching for such a story. Anyone sick enough to comply? ;-D

Trainspotting:
Mark Renton/any male
Two words: young McGregor. At the Equality Parade I attended this year, I saw the t-shirt with "2 cute 2 b str8" on it. No comment. ;-) I'm also very fond of the idea that Qui-Gon from Star Wars accidentally met Mark Renton on Earth and took care of him. I'd love to read that x-over. Please, indulge the poor sick girl and write it. ;D

Harry Potter:
Snape/Black or familiarly Snack
Snack? A feast! Snarling, hating each other, with twenty year old grudge between them, both prisoners of their past, both intelligent but blinded by emotions, both unjustly charged with treason... Did I mention that both are half-starved and longhaired? Yum. It's all Fabula Rasa's fault. She made me a slave to that pairing. Excuse me while I drool all over the keyboard. //Slurping sound.//

Death Note:
Misa/Mogi
The fluffiest pairing I could ever think of. Just imagine them after the end of the series. Misa needs someone who would console her, bear with her whims and moods, and love her without expectations. Don't you see Mogi in this role? Maybe he's not a knight in a shining plate-mail, but certainly he's a good plain guy. He'd let her win in checkers and bring her breakfast to bed. So, in the pink fluffy part of my brain Misa didn't jump from the bridge. Mogi saved her. :D

Discworld again:
Rincewind.
Rincewind needs more love. Point. He's my favorite witty victim (see three posts below), sadly unappreciated also by his own creator. I don't care who, I don't care what gender or fandom, but my dearest Wizzard needs somebody to love. No unrequited for him, he deserves better. Obi-Wan, would you volunteer? After all Luke is quite safe with his uncle, and frankly what's the difference for you: Tatooine or Disc?
Ok, dear readers. Now it's your turn. What are your guilty OTPs? :-D

slashy squee, fandom
