Mixed emotions
Okay, this entry will be a little messy X3 Because I'm not sure what to write... When I knew it I had no time to write it down. A was so tired last week _-_ But.. what is strange... it was fun~ And thanks dear weather, bless you! Thanks to you I survived!
Okay, so let's get down to business. I spent 3 days in laboratory... okay, there was a lot of different laboratories we worked and we were working on few things in the same time. During these three days I learned how to passage cells (transfer of cells to next medium), which medium is good for fibroblasts (important in wound healing) and for HeLa (immortal cancer cells)... I isolated cytoplasm and made test to measure level of actin - it's very important protein. And we learned how to make slide with these cells and watch it in fluorescence microscope. We added some specific dyes and we were able to watch our cells in 3 versions - red actin, green cofilin (protein) and blue nuclei. When we will have photos I will show you results of my hard work ^ ^
And the last but not the least.... I killed 2 chickens... when they were 10-days embryos... Don't read what follows if you're too sensitive! X3 So... we cracked eggs and took 5cm embryos to another plate... next I had to decapitate it and cut off it's limbs (about 0,5cm each), take out all internal organs (heart, liver,...) and cut off little spine. Rest (skin and muscles) was digested with tripsin (enzyme, you have it in your pancreas) and after few steps we had fibroblast~ And we cultivated it and made slides~ It was fun ^ ^ I know I shouldn't like killing living organisms... but it was soooo different from what I made so far. The only disadvantage was laboratory where we made this part - it was so hot O.o Because they don't want to contaminate cells they don't open windows, there are filters by doors and there's no air movement... Well, you don't feel it... something like sauna O.o
Okay... and now I'm working on sth less interesting - presentation for production's economics. We work in pairs and decided to make presentation about environmental protection's funding in Poland. We get some materials from our friend who studies economics... but I can't stand more information about this horrible stuff... I don't like it _-_ I want to learn for my test from tissue's culture~~
Okay... so let's finish... and before that... I know it was a while but... have you seen Katy Perry's "E.T." music video? When I first saw it I thought "okay, cool, but not for now".. And there's a lot of criticism because it resembles Lady Gaga's "Born this way" music video.
