Characters: Sora; mentions of the Destiny Trio.

Author's Notes: I'm not sure I really like this one much. I had a moment of insperation when watched this little thing on youtube, and I really, really wanted to spend some time thinking about this Hollow Bastion and Sora's thoughts on it. Its such a beautiful world...and I knew I'd end up writing it sometime. ;D

He knew it wouldn't be easy.

There had been battles to fight - heartless and bad guys and people who really didn't know what side they were on; places and faces and friends and allies that had brought him this far.

So many obstacles; missions to complete and folks to help; hearts to free and keyholes to seal. He was still completing some tasks - he still had to save Kairi to free her from Maleficent and find Riku, because they were best friends, and best friends never give up on each other - and other things, he knew, had yet to come. It had been difficult, yes, but he knew that because he was the keyblade master, he had to be able to do it.

And yet, looking up now, he wasn't so sure.

He stood in the midst of rising waterfalls; climbing and falling up the watery banks of the valley surrounding them. There were rocks - tall ones - that he wasn't sure he could jump, even with his newly acquired abilities that he'd gotten from training and fighting and learning; that looked sharp and hard and that floated up and down without anyone to levy them.

But beyond that; past the minor details of something he thought physically impossible; there was a castle.

And not just any castle either.

It was huge; a tall mass of pipes and metal and brass majesty that hovered above him like a giant heartless - like the darkshade, darkshadow, dark-mass that he'd fought on the remnants of the destiny islands. There were elevators; round, barely visible elevators held up by frail blue light strings, and tunnels that were shrouded in darkness and the chilling notion that something was hiding within. Walls and sides bent this way and that; turning almost before his eyes into shapes and contortions that he hadn't a clue existed, and, almost taunt one closer, a cloud of luke-warm blue mist sprayed itself across all who dare seek this...castle of the damned.

And, dead in the center of the hollow divinity, was the heartless sign he'd come to know.

He'd known it wouldn't be easy.

But this...this was it.

resound, kingdom hearts, for fun
