At any given time I generally I have an opinion on whatever news article is brought to me. I may not state that opinion aloud but rest assured I have one. This article I am challenged on.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,397645,00.html I get the reasoning behind the holiday switch. And I find myself playing two hand sally.........
On one hand:
*If most of your population celebrates one holiday more then another it makes sense to switch.
*Labor day was created by a Union therefore it's a unions right to change that
On the other hand:
*Labor day has no ties to any religion, Muslim vs. Christian does not apply here. It is an American holiday to celebrate the workers dedication and effort
*This point has no basis in fact but something feels very wrong with switching Labor day with a religious holiday no matter the religion
I fully admit this is likely based in the lifelong habits and culture I have grown up in
I'm riding the fence, I hate getting that mental recoil and the initial internal reaction to demand what the hell they think they are doing*, a much cooler logical voice asks "why?" why do I get so protective over the holiday? Is it a valid gut reaction or over-reacting?
Your opinion?
*oddly enough this internal voice always has a white trash twang
