Although there are a lot of project-oriented things I know I should be working on, I think the most productive thing I did this weekend was sleep a lot. I still think there are a lot of things churning around in my brain, which eats up a lot of energy I could use on practical things, but I hope that while I'm sleeping, I'll work out some of these things in my head. Also, I need to go back to making lists to make sure I get things done, especially since tonight is a night when I'm not obligated anywhere else.
I think Facebook is a great motivator to be productive and get things done, because it creates an audience. LJ creates an audience too, but it's fewer than FB, and I'm never sure exactly how many people bother reading my posts. Besides, FB has people I actually know in real life. Ironically, there are also quite a few people on FB that I don't know at all, who either added me because I'm on the friends lists of others in the Chicago poetry community, or because they want more "pet friends." FB also has many distractions--this "Pirates" game is as high-maintenance as that pony site I was on a couple years ago. It demands attention every hour, because even when you're not paying attention to it, people can attack you and steal from you. I suspect it won't be long before the annoyance factor overtakes the entertainment factor for me and I delete the app.
My space pirates novel has gone back to annoying me. Big edits are finished with chapter 1, but I already dread starting chapter 2. I need 2-3 more poems to fill out my chapbook, so I'll put typing up those on my list for tonight. There is no shortage of things to edit, but I'm not always most interested in the stuff on the top of my pile.
