RP LOG: Watari/Troy

Watari goes to have a talk with Troy....

Troy: *He is out on the deck, standing near the wheel and doing a bit of star gazing. Or at least, that is what it appears on the surface, but while he is mentally brushing up on his night-time navagation skills he is waiting for a visitor.*

Watari: *considering no one actually knows he has a contract with Troy and not knowing how many of the visitors to Budehuc could conceivably be working for the Council, he decides to take the sneaky approach. Using his Skunk Rune, he slips up the side of the boat, moving carefully through the shadows still he's up next to Troy* Should we move to your cabin?

Troy: *Nods without speaking and casually walks down to his cabin. He trusts his crew but old habits die hard, and therefore he treats this meeting as if during wartime, spies everywhere. Once safely in his cabin he turns up the lamp* You have news for me?

Watari: Not so much news as... observations. To be honest, the amount of information I can gather while here is limited. You heard of the letter concerning Louis, correct?

Troy: He was arrested by the Zexen Council, but I am sure that there is more than what they are letting on. He was charged with treason, I believe?

Watari: I believe so. But, if my intuition is correct, this is only an excuse for something more.

Troy: *Nods* Yes, they have been looking for something, a reason, anything to open a door for....*frowns* for whatever they are looking for here.

Watari: Budehuc is now a large commercial center, and has the potential to become a major point of trade. Zexen let it go once, and now regrets this. If my guess is right, this is beginning of a much larger ploy to bring Budehuc under its control once more. And they're playing very underhandedly, especially by having Thomas' father deliver the letter.

Troy: I had figured as much..*Raises an eyebrow* His father?

Watari: *nods* I believe his name is Loma or some such. But it's a clever psychological attack, or at least it seems that way to me. The council might not be smart enough for that, though I would think they were.

Troy: *Sighs* Politicians and merchants....*shrugs slightly* Any word on what they are planning to do when their 'three days' run out?

Watari: No, but I can make educated guesses. I don't think they'll order any military action as of yet. That in itself is risky, and I don't think they want to display the fact they can't get a small little castle like Budehuc to heel. I wouldn't put it past them though to give Louis a public treason trial. It's the perfect way to get the populace on their side....

Troy: A public trial? That may backfire...the knights are rather popular with the people of Zexen.

Watari: And in that same way it could work. Their beloved Knight a traitor? At firs they'll deny, but if the Council produces 'evidence' to the contrary and proves it... well then the populace becomes very upset. It's a risk, one I think they are more likely to take than military action. Public humiliation is so much cheaper than military exploits as well.

Troy: Most of the time. *Considers it* Have you heard anything else?

Watari: *shakes his head* No, nothing. But I do suggest you be careful. Budehuc attracts a lot of different people. Who knows if one might be a spy for the Council?

Troy: Indeed. *Frowns, unhappy that there is no clear answer right now* Please keep me posted on any new developments.

Watari: I will do my best, Troy. As I said, I am somewhat limited, but I will do what I can.

Troy: I understand. Let me know when you have something.

Watari: *nods* I shall be on my way then.

Troy: *He does not offer to hold the door for the ninja, knowing that Watari will be out and gone before he gets the chance. Once alone, he sits and contemplates more on their situation, something that will undoubtably keep him awake long into the night.*
