LOG: Geddoe and Watari

Mar 20, 2009 15:27

Who: Geddoe (trueltning_fury ) and Watari (iii_ninja )
When: A few days ago
Where: the back of the bakery
What: Watari has a request for Geddoe - a rather interesting one.

Geddoe unloaded his arms with a rattling clunk, spilling the hewn wood onto the pile behind the cafe for the use of the kitchens. It was his personal decision to repay Budehuc by splitting some for the castle's use while splitting his own. He paused to brush the splinters off his shirtsleeves, even though he had another armload up by the manor to carry back to his room shortly.

Watari heard the rattle of wood being dropped, knowing it was Geddoe making a delivery. He sat aside the rolling pin, wiping his hands on his apron and heading for the back door. "Geddoe," he called casually, poking his head out.

"Hm?" Geddoe raised his head while he patted down his armor. "Watari. I brought you guys another load."

"Yes, thank you," Watari nodded, dropping his apron, the sun catching the shine of a silver ring on his ring finger - simple, but looking like three slim bands twined. "I'll need it later, as it is. You chose a good time to bring it."

Geddoe thought he caught the flash, but with only one eye, he could never really tell for sure and so didn't call attention to it. "What, having a busy day?"

"Sort of," Watari said, his voice sound almost fond as he finished wiping his hands and the sun caught his ring again.

Geddoe raised an eyebrow. "Either you are or you aren't...and I didn't take you for a jewelry-wearer. At least not while cooking."

Watari blinked, then looked down at his ring. "Ah, well, it's special," Watari's lips quirked just a bit beneath his mask. "And I suppose I am busy, but with my own baking, not baking for the store."

"Special." Geddoe snorted lightly. "Special like mine?"

"Yes," Watari nodded, touching it. "Though I thought silver suited Kinnison more than gold."

Geddoe sniffed again. "I guess monogamy fever is spreading throughout the castle." His dark eye sparked for just a moment.

"I suppose. But, the thing with Arshtat, it just.. made me realize some things," he shrugged.

"Hey, you don't have to justify it to me," Geddoe assured, waving a hand. "Whatever floats your boat, as they say." He shrugged, then. "For what it's worth, congratulations."

"Thank you," Watari nodded. "But, actually, this is sort of what I wanted to talk to you about."

"Me?" The eyebrow went up again. "What for?"

"Well, Kinnison wants a small wedding," Watari explained. "Nothing big or fancy, just a few people and a cake. Apparently Stallion is insistent upon that - a cake." He shook his head, as if wondering why an outsider was dictating what was to be present at the ceremony. "Anyways, Kinnison's inviting some friends when it happens and... I'd like you to be there as well. For me, anyways."

A boggled look crept slowly over Geddoe's face. "You...wait. You're inviting me to a wedding."

Watari nodded. "Yes. To be honest, I don't have many friends, but... you'd I count one, at least."

"Well..." Geddoe couldn't deny that, really. He shrugged a bit. "I suppose. I missed both Kaiden's and Wyatt's...I'm not much of a friend in that regard. But since it'll be here, I assume..."

Watari nodded. "As I said, a small affair. A few friends and we need to find someone to actually wed us, which I assume can be Thomas or even Cecile."

"I don't clean up well," Geddoe warned. "But I will be there. If nothing else, you can bet Sigurd would make sure I made it on time."

"That's fine. It's the presence that counts," Watari nodded.

"Geez, weddings and everything," Geddoe smirked, folding his arms. "You fell hard and fast, didn't you?"

Watari actually blushed the slightest bit at that. "I would have gone without a wedding, but Kinnsion seems to want one, and... I can't deny him anything." His words are soft, and a real smile on his face beneath his mask, touching his ring again.

Geddoe nodded knowingly, sort of rolling his eye. "Hard, and fast. You're worse than me, you big sap."

Watari chuckled and reached out, punching Geddoe lightly. "Maybe I am, but... I'm happy, Geddoe. For the first time, I'm happy."

Geddoe rolled with it easily. "Good. I'd say you were due, as much as I was. Happens to the best of us." He shrugged idly, then. "Just warn me in advance, so I don't go and take a job that has me traveling at the same time."

Watari nodded. "We've discussed a time." He suddenly chuckled. "When I initially asked that his response was 'dusk'."

Geddoe swiped his gloved hand down his face. "Dusk."

"I know right?" He paused. "It's what makes him adorable."

Geddoe stifled a bit of a chuckle behind his hand. "Listen to you. Don't say that in front of too many people or your scowling-ninja reputation will be ruined.

"I have a feeling it will be ruined the moment Kinnison comes to see me at work," Watari sighed. "I can't help it. I melt around him. And if you ever tell anyone that I will make sure something nasty gets put in your next meal."

"Trust me. If you saw me with Sigurd in our private times, you'd tease me about it, too. That's why I keep them private." Geddoe smirked again. "All secrets are safe with me."

"I try to keep most of mine private and luckily Kinnison respects that - most of the time," Watari sighed. "There's been some trouble with Percival, but it was more my fault than Kinnison's, though he blames himself."

Again with the eyebrow. "Trouble?"

"Kinnison and I kissed in public in the baths - a short sort of hello as I had not seen him all day and it was right after our engagement. And Percival saw and..." he shook his head. "He left almost immediately."

Geddoe absorbed that and then shrugged. "That doesn't sound like trouble. More like coincidence, unless there were words. Who knows? The proper ways of knights are sometimes strange."
"Tell me about it," Watari shook his head. "I just hope Kinnison can work it out. He's not one for conflict or hating people, and I don't like seeing him being torn over this."

"Some people are just like that. He's not really...been out in the wider world for very long, has he?" Geddoe wondered. "Where he'd be exposed to the range of behavior humans are capable of."

"I suppose not, no. He was basically raised by a wolf, so..." he shrugged his shoulders. "Put that way it almost makes it sound like I seduced an innocent."

"Something tells me that if he didn't like it, he would have said no in his own way," Geddoe sighed. "Relax, Watari, I didn't mean anything by it."

"I know you don't," Watari shook his head. "Just old habits resurfacing, I suppose."

Geddoe knew how that worked...it happened to him from time to time as well, as it had while working through his grief the past weeks. "Either way. I will accept your invitation, and drag Sigurd with me if you're willing."

"Sigurd is of course welcome," Watari nodded. "It'd be rude to keep your husband out of the ceremony, wouldn't it?"

"Ah, don't say it like that." Geddoe bashfully scratched the back of his neck. "We don't usually use words like that around each other. I prefer 'partner.'"

Watari chuckled. "Yes, that is a bit easier on the tongue. But I'll take whatever Kinnison calls me. He seems to prefer mate or life mate."

"Makes sense." Geddoe nodded and turned to continue his chores. "Let me know when it will be, then. Maybe I'll find a clean shirt just for you.

Watari chuckled. "Right. I'll be sure to let you know. It won't be right away, I don't think. We'll need a bit warmer weather."

"Good idea." Geddoe raised a hand in farewell. "I have another armload waiting for me. I'll talk to you later, Watari."

"See you," he nodded, turning and heading back inside to finish making the samples for Kinnison to taste. After all, he wanted his mate to have the perfect cake.
