8 Remain... Can it be done?

Dec 30, 2012 22:25

I was actually kind of dreading heading out today. I still needed 8 caches, and I've never done more than 6 in a day. It was pretty certain I wasn't going to finish today, and I was already so tired I wasn't sure I could face 2 days of 4s.

Started off with a fail - yay snow! I dug and dug but no luck. I think it'll be an easy find in the summer, I'll try again then. Followed that with a snow walk that led to a successful grab. Whew! I'm kind of surprised that caches hasn't been muggled, since with no camo it looks kind of like a kid's lost lunch... Anyway, a new hider for me and a new alphanumeric, which was a double bonus.

Third was a quick fail - so much snow, and someone's front lawn! No way I'm digging in front of all the neighbours. Four was a good find, I enjoy a lot of Irish_Ninja's caches. Good thing too, since more than 10% of what I found this year was hidden by him!

Five and Six were fails, thanks to all the snow. I followed that with a pair of finds, both of which were new hiders for me and eight was also a new alphanumeric!

I then tried a couple I had looked at before - failed one of them, but had my hand on the next one almost instantly - I don't know why I missed it before, but it was a good way to end the day, with 5 finds. This one was also a new D/T for me.

With only 3 to go, I asked my boyfriend if he would take me out tonight to hit some mall parking lot ones, after the stores had closed. I offered to buy him dinner in exchange. He agreed, and we were able to find the sixth on the day very shortly after we got to the area.

This was followed up by 2 more painful fails (I think one might be gone, I'm sure I know where it should have been.) I was ready to call it a night, but he was determined dinner was going to be a victory dinner! The next was another snow walk (a short one, thankfully) that I was able to find without too much trouble. That was #99. I was again ready to call it quits, but he was determined. So we headed off to the one I had chosen to be my 100. Sadly, it was not to be. I dug and dug and dug in the snow, but I just couldn't lay my hands on the thing. So we picked another that promised it was a quick park and grab, and we made the successful find.
