Is it awful of me to hope that Harry is one of the two slated for death? Just so that I could see the fandom explode? I was holding out hope for the "Rocks fall and everyone dies" ending, but barring that ( Read more... )

I know I kept saying I was going to rent a PS2 console and rent some games (only rent KHII by itself, it will EAT YOUR LIFE for about a week), but I probably wasn't going to until the nephew got one and then I said OH WELL MIGHT AS WELL. Also? Walkthroughs are MEANT to be abused and followed along religiously. Setting the game on "easy" also helps a LOT.

I admit, a lot of my Ouran shipping comes from liking Kyouya best of all. When I try to ship Tamaki with anyone else, a part of me quails and goes, "But what about Kyouya?" I really think a part of Kyouya is kinda a little in love with Tamaki, he gets a certain look on his face around Tamaki, he seems much more interested in Tamaki than anyone else, he'll do things for Tamaki that he wouldn't for anyone else. He's not even annoyed when Tamaki looks at him with tearful eyes and whines Kyouya's name to get him to show him to his room at Nekozawa's mansion.

It's sort of the same thing with Mori/Haruhi. I like Haruhi so very much and when I stop and look at the series through her perspective and think, "Who would be good for Haruhi? Not who she would be good for." and the answer is always Mori. It's getting around the whole thing with Hunny that confuses me because I don't know that Mori could hurt Hunny (even just by making someone else more important) that way.

They couldn't work out as a threesome like Kyouya/Tamaki/Haruhi could. (Which is one of those few threesomes that would actually be balanced, you can make a case for all three sides/pairings in it.) Which would be delightful fun for those exact reasons--imagine Tamaki and Haruhi ganging up on Kyouya because he doesn't get enough hugs? (Which Haruhi would mostly do in a passive aggressive evil streak that she's developing because of the twins.) Or Kyouya deliberately winding Tamaki up so Haruhi will flatten him because it amuses Kyouya?

My biggest problem with that threesome, though, is that it's difficult enough to bend realism in such a series towards a gay pairing, much less a threesome. Kyouya and Tamaki are important people who will be running important businesses. (Though, I do think that... Tamaki being a Suoh... Tamaki doesn't care about that sort of thing, whatever Tamaki wants, Tamaki gets.) I worry that it couldn't stand up to the characters being apart once high school is over. Kyouya and Tamaki are heading for a vastly different world from Haruhi.

I also worry that the dynamics would be off. However insightful Haruhi is, she doesn't share in their history--volume 6 is practically all about that, showing just how much she doesn't realize about them yet, constrasted directly against that scene where Kyouya and Tamaki share a quiet moment together and Kyouya says afterwards he'll deign to let Tamaki do him the great favor of showing him the best commoners' eating places. True, they've only been friends for a few years, but they have an established history by the time Haruhi comes around and I'm not sure that wouldn't clash against her, even as smart as she is.

Plus. Okay. Maybe I just really want Mori/Haruhi and Kyouya/Tamaki. (Though, I'm not opposed to Kyouya/Haruhi at all. I think he's probably the one member of the club who isn't really that affected by her and it fascinates me. All his major scenes with her are about Tamaki or about assessing her on behalf of the club, always figuring out where she stands and what she's going to do, rather than his interest being piqued.)
