This time, the project is a birthday party for Aiba-kun, born on Christmas Eve. As arranged by Matsumoto-kun, “without telling the person the theme, okay? (grinning),” we attempted a surprise! Sakurai-kun, who came earlier, prepared the cake and card and went on standby. Aiba-kun, who didn’t know anything, arrived. When he went in the room…… he froze for a moment, and then went “So that’s what it is!” with a smile. They quickly did a toast, and that’s the start of the happy talk ♪
I have a lot of memories of the countless birthdays I welcomed with Arashi…
Sakurai: The surprise was a huge success!
Aiba: I was surprised! I heard that today’s theme was “Heart-throbbing Arashi” and I was wondering what we were going to do. The waiting time was longer than usual, so I thought Sho-chan would be the main for the shoot (laughs).
Sakurai: I was making preparations (grinning). Well, I borrowed a great deal of strength from the staff, though (laughs). I reaffirmed that I suck at detailed work like this.
Aiba: (looking at the room) Wow~ I’m moved! Thank you for the first celebration ♪ Did you have birthday parties like this when you were little, Sho-chan?
Sakurai: Not at all! Since my birthday’s during exams, and everyone’s busy during that time. Though, one time, we were studying in a family restaurant and a friend brought a cake.
Aiba: For me too, it’s Christmas eve, and winter break, it didn't feel like I spent it with friends. My relatives gathered for it and as a Christmas party. And the last few years, during concerts, the members and the audience celebrate with me, it's so…… That’s the best happiness!
Sakurai: A while back, I was really moved when the audience at my solo concert celebrated my birthday with me too. We don’t have birthday parties with Arashi members, but we do give each other presents every year. For me, most recently it was the bag series. I gave Satoshi-kun a small bag, Aiba-kun and Nino backpacks, and MatsuJun a large tote.
Aiba: I gave Leader a T-shirt, Sho-chan clothes, Nino shoes, and MatsuJun sweats. What I can’t forget from the past was the CD I got for my 20th birthday!
Sakurai: Nino composed, had the staff participate in the recording too, and gave it to each of us. When it was Nino, we didn’t have someone to write the song so it turned into a video letter. That was really stupid too (lol).
Aiba: (bursting into laughter) We were so young~!
Sakurai: Speaking of which, on the 3rd of November recently, my friends planned a surprise for me. It was late, so I was going to go home, but they said “just show your face” so I went, and it was “congratulations on the anniversary of your debut!” I didn’t think that would be celebrated in private!
Aiba: It’s something to be grateful for, isn’t it. The same situation happened for me too, Yoko (Yokoyama Yuu) called me out. I wondered what it was and he got excited saying “congratulations on being a host for Kouhaku!” It made me happy... In the future, if we’re doing a surprise with Arashi…… maybe someone’s wedding?
Sakurai: (imagining it) Eh~ I don’t want the members to come! It’s too embarrassing!
Aiba: But, you want to go right?!
Sakurai: (imagining again) …… That’s true (laughs).
Aiba: I’ll definitely cry, I think... No matter what kind of project or entertainment too, I’ll give it everything I’ve got! (lol)
