A/N: Don't own, just borrowing. Am making no money so don't sue. This is my first fic so please tell me if I am doing anything wrong, but no flames please. Is AU. I can't read every story out there no matter how hard I try, so if this is like something you've read before, please let me know. I do not want to infringe on anyone's territory. Or not give credit were it's due. I am using all the knowledge I have on the subject of police work. Not much. So if some one could tell me if I'm doing something wrong, I'd be grateful.

Previous Chapters With the help of Calleigh, Ron had taken both Eric and Jay back to his house. He had put Jay to bed and now sat across from Eric.
Though Eric hadn’t noticed any of this, he felt the changes in the room. He felt how Jay’s fear had faded as he fell asleep, how Ron paced his fear off and sat and stared at Eric with sadness, and how all their friends, and even family, had come to lend support and search. The one and only thing he desperately wanted to feel, and see and hear and smell and taste, was Ryan. But he wasn’t there. So Eric sat, and stared, and waited.
Ryan didn’t know what was going on, the only thing he knew for certain was that almost twelve hours had passed. And the only reason he knew that was because of the clock someone had placed on the nightstand next to the bed. And to make matters worse, not only was the bed one of the most uncomfortable things Ryan had had to rest on in a long time, but the baby wouldn’t settle down. Every time Ryan found some semblance of comfort, there was always some small body part colliding with an internal organ.
Having gone to the bathroom, again, Ryan stopped and looked out the small window. He already knew that the window wouldn’t break or open, and that the film covering it would allow him to see out, but no one to see in. Ryan sighed, leaning his head against the glass. “Where are you Eric? Did he get you too?” Ryan rubbed small circles over his belly as the baby did, what he could only imagine to be, back flips. “I know. I want him here just as much as you do.” He whispered.
“He’s not coming. And if he does, well, I’ll take care of him.”
Ryan, hands tightening on his belly, froze at the reflection he saw in the covered glass. It was Jesse. But Jesse wasn’t looking at him, he was looking at the gun he held in his hand. Ryan straightened his spine as best he could and turned only his head to face his ex. With a fake smile plastered on his face he started to talk. “Hello Jesse. Why are you doing this?” Ryan’s fake smile faded completely as Jesse turned to look at him.
“You really want to know why Ryan? Really?” Jesse started stalking toward him, and Ryan instinctively moved away. He remembered that look well. “Ah sweets. I thought you wanted to know why.”
“I do.” Ryan’s arms were wrapped even more firmly around his middle as he moved away.
“So, where are you going?” At Jesse’s grin, Ryan’s blood turned to ice.
“To sit down. It’s a little hard carrying all this around for long periods of time.” Ryan sneered as he moved to the bed and sat down. He knew it wasn’t the smartest thing in the world to do, but he was moving passed angry and straight into pissed. “Where’re Eric and Jay?” Ryan asked while trying to find the most non-sexual way to sit on the bed. Ryan knew from personal experience that he could get jumped by just sitting a certain way. Then again his husband had one hell of an appetite. He couldn’t ever remember Jesse jumping him just from the way he sat before, but he knew he didn’t want to tempt fate right now.
He made a face at the question. “I don’t know where they’re at. But I do know your Eric should be picked up soon. An old friend wants to talk with him.” Jesse said, smiling at something only he could see.
“Derk.” Ryan snorted. “Don’t look so surprised. It’s just a little obvious, don‘t you think?”
“How do you know that?” Jesse growled and stalked closer to Ryan.
“Someone had to be driving.” Ryan shrugged and tried to relax his posture. “Who’s the woman? Derk’s? Or have you switched sides?” Ryan’s head snapped harshly to the right as Jesse’s fist made contact.
‘Ryan! I’m coming!‘ Eric called as he ran toward his husband. ‘Just, please, tell me where you are.‘ He sobbed the last part.
Eric jerked awake when somebody touched his shoulder. “Wha’s goin on?”
“Papa? You will find Daddy, won’t you?” Jay asked as he crawled into Eric’s lap. “And da baby too?”
“I’ll do everything I can blue jay.”
“You promise?”
“I promise. We’ll find Daddy and the baby.”
“Okay.” Jay whispered as sobs started wracking his little body.
“Shhh baby. Everything will be just fine. Everything will be fine.” Eric whispered, starting to cry too.
‘Why am I trusting them to get the job done?’ She asked herself as she stood in the shadows. “Derk sweetie? I’m telling you right now. Don’t. Mess. Up.” She said it in the sweetest voice possible. ‘Jesse better not fuck things up either.’ She thought. “Don’t worry. You’ll get your chance. He’ll be alone soon enough. ” She sent a smile toward the house as she carefully pulled Derk into the shadows.
“Why’d you make me do that Ryan?”
Ryan had instinctively curled his body around their baby. ‘Eric’s and mine. Where are you Eric?’ He thought as the pain started to subside. Ryan knew his upper back and neck would have bruises by tomorrow. He hadn’t come away with nothing in his years with Jesse. And an intimate knowledge of his body was it. Ryan figured that, by now, the only person who knew his body as well as he did was Eric. ‘That’s what’ll keep me alive. Thinking about them. My husband and my son, and our baby.’
“You’re not even listening! I don’t know why I even bother with you!” Jesse shouted, then stormed out. “And Ryan? I promise you’ll never get out of here.”
“You think you can stop my family and friends? You’re sadly mistaken. I’ll get out.”
“Over my dead body.”
